    Glock 17 or 19???

Looking into buying a 9mm Glock 17 or 19. Lot of people like 19 over 17, but i more concerned about the accuracy than compact size.

So in terms of accuracy which one do you guys recommend?

    thanks

Theoretically, a longer sight radius and a longer barrel (within reason) will always be superior, arguing in favor of the 17 (or the 34).

From a practical point of view, most people don't experience a difference at the distances used for plinking, defense, or at indoor ranges.

If you can, you should rent both and compare them. I shoot better groups with the 17 but I'd choose the 19 if it were for carry.

This about sums it up, I believe I am slightly more accurate with a 22 than a 23 but I still prefer the 23

With the G19 you aren't giving up much compared to the G17 so it really comes down to which one feels better in your hand and if you can carry concealed or not. Both are great guns.

As others have said if you can rent both for a comparison that would be the best way to decide.

I have both..while I am not the greatest shooter by any means. I think I shoot as good with the 19 compared to the 17.

I would probably decide which grip length you like better since that is where I notice the difference between the too.

Doesn't matter which Glock you buy first, you'll end up with a bunch of them.

I am not going to carry it, its for range only.

I held both of them, both feel OK to me :-)
19 feels small, i do not have large hands by any means, just medium sized.

Does 17 have an advantage in long range shooting over 19? I want to choose the one which will be more accurate, we in CA cannot carry so no point even considering conceal carry as criteria.

                    thanks

If you put both guns in a ransom rest, I doubt you'd see any considerable difference in accuracy. That being said, you will be the deciding factor in the accuracy of each gun. I prefer the full size grip & longer sight radius of the 17. I originally had a G34, but I'm faster and just as accurate with my GEN 4 G17, so I sold the 34. I don't have huge hands, but they're on the thick side, so the bottom of my palm sometimes holds the G19/23 mag in place when I reload. I have to pull my pinky way off the gun to get mags to drop consistently with the 19.

17 has a slight edge. Longer sight radious, longer barrel, and more grip surface area.

Only reason to go with a 19, or even 26 over the 17 is for CCW. With a light jacket and the right holster you can easily conceal even the 17. It's when you end up with t-shirt and shorts weather that it becomes and issue.

                          thanks guys,

So 17 would be better for accuracy and range? CCW is out of the window for Kalifornians:-) anyways.

not true... are you new here? check your county in 2A forum.

I have a 17 and a 19. I like them both but i prefer the 17. More accurate, less recoil.

but... you can CCW a 19, it would be much more difficult for 17.

If I was going to buy either of them I would buy the 17 or 34. The 19 shoots excellent and is accurate. I have a glock 35 and bought the lonewolf 9mm conversion barrel so two guns in one.
