One time I actually pointed my rifle at someone who was trying to break into my house and scared him off. Does that make me any more of an expert than someone else? No. Any situation where you have to defend yourself is a learning experience - that's it. Doesn't make you an expert if you don't learn anything from it or handled it poorly. Expertise comes from years of training, experience, and making mistakes; not from a single incident.

While many of us joke around and have fun on here. I have yet to meet anyone on Calguns who doesn't take shooting and self defense very seriously.

Last of all, there are lots of people on this forum who are experts in various aspects of shooting - collecting, competition, military, law enforcement, history, long range, etc. Some of them make a living doing this stuff, and have plenty of free advice to give. There are also a lot of hobbyists (like myself) who all have our little niches of knowledge that we like to share.

Thankfully no, which puts me in the category of the vast majority of LE over the course of a 20-year career. Is there a point to this question?

I don't pretend to be an "authority." I'm just a guy who trains a lot, shoots a lot and has a perspective.

Yes and Yes to both questions, not that I need to explain myself...

You took "Trust me" out of context, "I said trust me, it's not like xbox 360", in that regard anyone in the world could trust me on that and face no dire consequences, but thank you for your time and comments...

I just want to know why you got a stick up your ***? Trying to bring the dark cloud over calguns or what? Lets all just make depressing or pointless angry threads from now on, that seems to be the way to go.

I'll admit, I'm just a toy soldier or wannabe commando. The closest I came to was shooting my buddy square in the neck with an airsoft when he failed to surrender at an airsoft meet. In comparison, it sounds like you're the real thing. That said, please do share? What was your encounter or close encounter? I'm curious to hear from someone that has actually been in a "life or death situation". No sarcacism; I really want to know and thanks for sharing.

We have this little thing here called a "forum". Maybe you are familiar with the concept, but let me explain it for the sake of clarity:
                                • People are generally free to post whatever they like, inasmuch as it is on-topic.
                                • A lot of it amounts to matters of opinion.
                                • Some will offer up informed opinions, others not so much.
                                • There is little harm in the above disparity, as the ratio of one kind to another is suitable enough for the thinking participant.
                                • The ability to determine "informed" vs. "uninfomed" is equally up to the participant.
                                • Complaining that someone might do any of the above is itself offering up an (informed or uninformed" opinion.
                                • Therefore such complaints are generally self-contradictory.

Rather than complaining about the participation of others, perhaps the better tactic is to participate more fully and completely yourself. Of course everyone is free to heed/ignore whatever they choose, unless you suggest some kind of force should be applied against those not acceding to the demands of your "expert" opinion
