Save up and get the one you want. Put more miles on the one you already have.

If you want dead set on buying one now anyways, then I would go with the Kimber.

The Springfield Armory TRP Operator is really nice 1911.

But a Les Baer is the best you can get (imo).

I am not really a 1911 guy. I have two. I shoot well with them, just not a fan boy. So my opinion isn't biased.

I enjoy my Beretta's the most.

I am a Kimber fan but some of them do take a bit of light tuning to get working right. Every Springfield loded I have picked up felt like the trigger and slide had sand jammed in the action.

Now I am not a big Sig fan but the wuality of their 1911's is something to consider. Very smooth action, slide, fit and finish is 100% on the examples i have seen.

Like others have said liik at the Sig before you buy.

I don't have one, but friend of mine that's on SWAT Team says it's a great gun for the money.

I just picked up a SIG 1911r-sss its .45acp and 820$. Iv shot it next to colt gold cup, and ill take the sig all day long. Its still bone stock as well. with a polished up trigger it will top all. Down side i cant find a holster for it.

With the sig you will need a trigger job because the one I had and the few others I have shot have had heavy trigger pulls. The sig XO I owned had a 6lb trigger pull and didn't lighten up much even after 3000 rounds.

OP: ^ Not even close to my experience with the Sig GSR/1911's but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

If you settle for a mid range 1911, you'll soon end up wanting another upgrade. I recommend saving the cash and getting the one you really want. My first 1911 was a Les Baer. My second was an Ed Brown. Right now I'm saving up for a Wilson Combat and that will be the last 1911 I ever purchase. If I had just bought the Wilson from the start, it would have been my only 1911 and I would have more money for other guns.

Sig 1911 RCS is also a great off-roster choice, but perhaps more of a practical choice for the out-of-state carrier or if you're patiently waiting for the LTC process in your county to become less burdensome, if it hasn't already become so.
