I have one with a .22lr and .357 Magnum barrel, shot pistol cartridge silhouette's at U.S.I. on Sunday, BIG fun!!!! Mine's a G2, yours is a 1st gen.
Lot's of room for configuration changes!!!! You'll be surprised how long a box of ammo lasts when you're shooting a single shot pistol. Very nice.

Your grandpa sounds like a neat guy, and I'm glad you have something to remember him by.
Yeah for sure, I had no idea what to expect on the recoil. After the first shot, it was no big deal! So how accurate were you hitting at 200 yards? Standing? It was definitely turning a few heads at Angeles.

No, benchresting. I'm terrible at off hand long range stuff. The range I shot had about an 18" plate at 200 yards, and with a scope on the pistol I was hitting it nearly every time. I forgot to mention my dad's has a 14" barrel, so it's practically like shooting an AR in terms of velocity, but more accurate.

Yeah I'm a terrible shot off hand too. I was getting much closer bench resting.

Hey, do you ever go shooting in SLO? I'm from there originally. I was wondering where to go when I visit my fam.

I just recently got the Encore in .460s&w, and i've been dying to get out to the desert to shoot it with some friends.

I'm about ready to cave in and pay to use my local range, despite my hatred for most public ranges.

I have 3 contender frames , pistol barrels in 22lr, a 22 hornet on order, a 223,two barrels in 7tcu , a 30 carbine ,30-30,30 herrett,300/221,38 special,357herrett, 375 winchester and 45 colt . I have cut back , the most barrells i had at one time is 18. I could not give a number on how many i have bought and sold . Its great in that you can change barrels in few moments and be shooting a different cartridge , I have bought barrels as cheap as $80 but a used barrel will usually go $150-180 and new will go from about 250-$400 depending on what you want.
Shooting from the bench most of these barrels will give easy sub moa 5 shot groups .and most any barrel chambered in a rifle caliber will ,sometimes it can be difficult to find the load it wants but thats true with any firearm . my 22lr barrel has won the rimfire rifle matches here on cal guns when i have shot them , and yes shooting against rifles . The muzzle blast from the short barrel takes some getting use to but the accuracy can be very impressive, a consistant grip is critical.

Congrat's on a cool system. Sounds like it's a legacy you will treasure.
I have a similar setup with 223 (scoped), 357, 22 LR and an evil barrel I must keep out of state.
                The Encore I have is a 7mm-08, 15" barrel and it's a bit of a handful.

Damn those evil barrels. I may or may not have one of those too. Silly CA laws.

i have a friend that had one in 223, and 30-30, (both super 14's), have fired a 444 marlin,
and had a friend with a 45-70, (large caliber envy )
223, and 30-30 shot fine, the 444 malin rose up a bit, (as shown by the scope ring mark, on the forehead, of the owner's girlfriend).
                    never shot the 45-70 though
That may be a CG first!

Slo sportsman association. it is about half way between San Luis and Morro Bay on hwy 1. It is a top notch range with great rangemasters. Check out their web site for all the copetative shooting events and more info on the range.

Contenders are a great fun. I have a 2nd Gen blue contender and a 1st Gen. I have a .22 lr barrel and a 7mm TCU. I'm looking for a .223. Any other fun caliber suggestions? There's currently a .303 British barrel on Ebay.

You have me beat...but not by much, lol. Here's one you don't have: 6.8 SPC, it's a bit stout but not too bad. Custom shop barrel but no muzzle brake. It shoots quite a bit of fire out of the loud end.

bluerider beat me to it, but yeah, SLOSA is a great range. $10 per person per day, stay as long as you like until closing, and they're open 6-9pm on Thursdays for night shooting. I've never even have a RO give me crap, and the rules are very reasonable (there's no 1 shot per __ seconds rule, or caliber/ammo type limit)

I used to shoot a couple TC's in competition up at the Angeles Silhouette club back in the day. I believe one of the versions was a .300 win mag. I never benched that gun, nor did I shoot it standing. The highpower versions are really meant to be shot in a Creedmoor Shooting Position where you are laying on your back. Just be careful...I wasn't paying attention to where the end of the barrel was...the end was along the edge of my leg and the blast from the .300 blew a hole in my pant leg...and gave me some minor powder burns didn't make that mistake twice.

We'll all have to meet up at SLOSA and compare barrel collections
