I inherited a few guns from my grandpa after he passed. One of which was a Thompson Contender that had 4 different barrels. So this weekend I decided to take it out and give it a try. I put the .223 barrel on it. Honestly I was a tad scared to try it, but once the first shot went off, what a blast!

My dad's got one of those with the .223 barrel on it. They really are a blast to shoot, but I wouldn't say they have a lot of recoil. I'd put it somewhere around 9mm or 38spl. I like to take it out to the rifle ranges and hit stuff out around 200 yards. It turns a few heads.
Your grandpa sounds like a neat guy, and I'm glad you have something to remember him by."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
