I just "fingered" an XDM40 with a PRP (Powder River) and it was excellent. Very short pre-travel and no movement afer reset. I have no idea if it will hold up but the price was right for my friend.
Now I"m in a quandry...Spring Precision or Powder River......what shall it be????

In short, it simply wasn't as crisp or fluid as advertised or anticipated. After installation, the trigger broke at 4.75 pounds, not the advertised 3.5-4 pounds. After repolishing the sear, in addition to all other metal contact surfaces, I was able to reduce the pull below 4 pounds, but all in all, not worth the $145 price-point. Also, I was simply not happy with the over-travel stop used to eliminate over-travel in the trigger. Speaking of the trigger, the pre-travel pull and trigger reset was extremely gritty, and believe it or not, the stock trigger was far smoother when used in conjunction with the PRP components than the PRP trigger.

I also had the titanium striker safety kit, in addition to the polished striker, and striker indicator kit, all which did nothing to reduce pull. Basically, I had every PRP part in my pistol and they were all gimmicks. After installing each part, I measured the pull with a Lyman digital trigger guage, and there was no reduction.

I sold the pistol shortly after removing and returning the kit, so I never had the opportunity to try the Springer Precision kit, albeit very curious about what sort of magic SACS would be able to do with the trigger.

Great people, great customer service, but their parts simply do not perform as advertised, or maybe I've been spoiled and jaded by 1911 triggers.

I am more trying to eliminate pre travel then reduce trigger pull, the part about the grittyness does concern me though. Also did you have an XDM or an XD, I found the break on the XDM to be superior to the XD from the factory. Maybe I will get both and see which on is better

And you know what they say, if you want a 1911 trigger then you better go out and get yourself a dam 1911!

Anyway, thanks again for the info

Internally, since no two pistols are alike, results will obviously vary, so I definitely wouldn't be discouraged by my experience with PRP products. Some people will have great results, and others might share my experience following fitment and installation, but at the end of the day, I was far beyond satisfied with the customer service. After all, they did in fact allow me to return parts that I fitted to my pistol, or maybe Eris and Daniel were just sick of my b1tching via email.

To answer your question, I had the XDM 5.25 Comp. Fantastic, ergonomically sound pistol.

I installed the PRP ultimate match trigger in my XDM 4.5 and it's amazing. Smooth, under 3lbs. and zero overtravel. Maybe the other poster got some bad parts, but I think if you check this forum or XDTalk, you'll find most people LOVE their PRP triggers.

My XDM 4.5 9mm is stock, but I have a PRP drop-in on my XD45. Trigger is a big improvement over the XD45 factory trigger, but in terms of feel isn't actually that much better than the factory XDM9. Take up and overtravel are all but eliminated, but the pull itself only feels slightly lighter. I don't know if that's worth an upgrade on the XDM since I already shoot it really well anyway.
