Yes, Another 1911

I am seeking out another 1911 purchase. I currently have a Colt Government and Sig Rail. I have been looking at the Kimber Custom II and Sig TTT. I have been getting mixed reviews from friends, gun shops and other forums. Your opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, I would like to keep new purchase under $1000

There are more opinions on the internet then anywhere else. Both Sig and Kimber are good firearms.

At 1st i didn't like Kimber because the ones i've shot jammed at the beginning...But after about 400 rounds or so they run fine...Kimbers really do need to be breakin in they are built pretty tight...I love the black finish on the Kimbers also...I think they have the best black finish...They have a really nice satin black finish to it...Only thing i really don't like about Kimbers are the mags but other than that it's a fine 1911...You really see the craftsman ship on Kimbers...My other choice would be SA Loaded 1911 Champion or SA 1911 Champion Ultra Compact..

I have paid 3K for 1911 style pistols that needed break-in. It is a bit disheartening to have such an expensive gun jam every round.

Go Kimber...zero jams so far for me on WWB. I had a P226 and hated the trigger on the Sig, but not sure if it's any near the same for Sig's 1911s.

I'll vote for the Kimber, since I voted with my pocketbook and bought a Custom II. I'll confirm the break-in period. The slide to rail fit was so tight that the dealer in the store remarked on it when he showed the weapon to me. After shooting about 400 rounds, Wilson Combat ETM magazines worked perfectly, and after 600 - 800 pretty much any magazine works 99% of the time. An occasional FTRB or stovepipe which may be due to grip.

If I was going to add another 1911 to that list I would look at:

9mm Kimber target or 9mm SA loaded

Or maybe an SA longslide in 45.

Should be able to get the 9mm's around $1k...need a few more bucks for the longslide

I'd love an SA longslide for comps, and I've been considering a 9mm SA Loaded for awhile, but everyone seem to want to much for them nowadays. I'm not paying over a grand for it just because it's in 9mm and seemingly fewer are floating around!

The Kimber custom II is the introductory model...you'll be paying for the name. Youre hard pressed to find a better deal than the SA 1911 Loaded...they are under 1k. IMO

Comparing triggers on a p226 and a sig 1911 is apples and oranges although the trigger pull is a bit heavy on the few sig 1911 I have tried. As for choosing between a Sig or Kimber, it's a toss up because they both use a lot of MIM parts in order to keep the cost down but the Kimber has more.
