Colt Defender vs. SA Micro Compact .45?

I bought a Defender at the same time I bought a Springfield, the Defender ran perfectly (and still does) while the EMP required correction from the factory. The Defender is a touch less refined and has the Series 80 FP block, but a little switching out of parts such as trigger, Wilson thumb and grip safety and adjustable Champion rear sight and it's a classy little shooter. I replaced the FP block with C & S "filler" and cleaned up the trigger. I especially like that the entire rear of the sight moves, not just a small blade inside wings. Very clean and sharp.

I got some Colt checkered grips from CDNN, about $25.00. The Defender's factory Hogues make the darn thing look huge.

yes i know the poll choice says commander. i cant edit that once its posted so oh well.

9mm is not a sufficient defensive round in my opinion. no i dont want to have that debate.

i do the muay thai/BJJ/MMA thing so getting my forehead cut is not gonna make much of a difference on my ugly mug.

my hands are trashed and arthritic from my choice of sports so how the recoil feels could be an issue for me. but theres only one way to determine that one.

if i decide to keep it im gonna switch out the sear spring and disconnector for EGW parts, put a STI trigger and switch the safeties and slide stop for wilson/ed brown parts. i'll bevel out the magwell too.

and those hogue tire grips have got to go. who makes slim grips for this thing? preferably G10. do VZ's EMP grips fit a defender?
