HK P30

Thanks everyone for your posts-- yep, I realize we can do SSE-- but it seems like a costly PITA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're paying money (upwards of several hundred bucks depending on the gun) to have a gun "converted" so then you can re-convert it back to it's original functionality?

Will HK ever just try to be CA compliant and offer an approved P30-- is the mag disconnect too difficult to re-engineer in this gun? There is not a huge difference between this and the P2000s/USPs they sell here-- I know they can sell a boatload of these pistols to make it worth their while.

There are Kalifornia mandated "features" (magazine "safety" etc.) that the P30/P30L/P30S does not have---I don't think HK will build a pistol just to sell in Kalifornia with these features. Now having said that, I was one of those people who was willing to spend a premium to get this pistol (P30S 9mm) NIB from a fellow Calgunner and don't regret it for a minute. Personally, I consider the P30 series to be one of the very best! Oh, and yes, they do make factory ten round mags.

Found one in Florida, SSE performed by Table Rock, picking it up next Tuesday from OC Armory, .40 SW. Almost exactly 30 days from payment to pickup.

You forgot to include a Loaded Chamber Indicator. See this thread here. The P2000s and USPs are probably grandfathered onto the Roster, that is why they are missing these 2 "new" safety requirements.

So all CA semi autos from now have to have that lame "LOADED WHEN UP" on the top of the slide?

Not necessarily. But they must have some sort of Chamber Indicator that is acceptable to CA DOJ during the review process. Take for example, the S&W M&P series. They have the mag disconnect feature and an LCI, but the LCI is simply a little hole at the top of the slide that allows someone to peek inside of it in order to determine if its loaded or not.

True, the USP and P2000 series lack both the loaded chamber indicator and magazine disconnect (the P2000 only has lci). They where approved for sale before 2007. If HK doesn't pay to keep them on the list, then they won't be able to be re-tested.
