hello members, I want my girl to get an HSC card but she doesnt have a driver license or an ID. She has a passport which has a picture ID. She tried taking the test but the gun shop would not accept her passport as a type of ID. Is there anyway around this? Or does she have to go to the DMV and get an ID and wait about a month for that thing to come in?

Id for HSC
Gun control is NOT missing.Tags: None -
I have never had anyone not have a DL/CAID before, but from the manual:
Applicants must be over 18 years of age and are required to present clear evidence of identity and age by presenting a California Driver’s License or California Department of Motor Vehicles Identification Card.Seems odd you could not accept any government issued picture ID.If the applicant is successful in passing the HSC test, you are required to issue an HSC at that
time. On the front of the HSC you must clearly print the recipient’s last name, first name,
middle initial, California driver’s license or I.D. card number, date of birth, date of issuance, and
date of expiration (5 years from issuance). The recipient must sign the front of the HSC. On the
back of the HSC, you must provide your name or business name, your DOJ Certified Instructor
number and your California Firearms Dealer (CFD) number, if applicable, and your signature. -
Regardless of HSC, I think she should get a CA ID. It helps avoid any hassle in case you ever have to identify yourself to an officer or if you're trying to get into a club.Originally posted by G. Well, she wants to get a drivers license but because of our mixed schedules, its hard to get the time to her a drivers permit, then take the driving test. So, she doesnt wanna pay for an id when she is gonna pay for a DL anyways. She just turned 21 and she worked as a gogo and never had the problem with identification. All clubs, bars, LEO's, etc accept the passport as identification. The loooooong wait in the lines at the DMV is what is the PITA especially since her and I have a baby that is 1.5 yo and likes to wonder around. Little kids have little patience.Gun control is NOT missing.Comment

The tone of this OP raises the question, Why do you want your girl to "get an HSC" the only purpose of the HSC is to allow you to "purchase a handgun in the State of California."
Your tone / wording seems to suggest that she is not in the market for a handgun? (Because she would HAVE to have a CID or CDL in order to obtain one anyway.)
The HSC program, in my opinion, is in NO WAY a good training or safety program for new shooters. It does not substitute for a trained instructor in any way shape or form. If you are thinking along those lines I urge you to stop, and consider professional help if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself!
Not trying to set a negative tone, I know it comes off that way, but HSC is a piece of **** crapped out by anti-gun California. It is devoid of all worth.

If she has an HSC, he can legally lend a handgun to her. I wanted my gf to get an HSC in case she wanted to borrow any of my guns. The tone of this OP raises the question, Why do you want your girl to "get an HSC" the only purpose of the HSC is to allow you to "purchase a handgun in the State of California."

Lol no, she has a kimber 1911 custom TLE II on layaway. So, she is gonna a gun which is why she trying to do this in a rapid way and why she doesnt want to wait to go get a CA ID or CA DL. Its a long and tedious process. She cant start the DROS without the HSC. That is why I wanted to know if she can get away with a passport at some other gun shop. The passport has an identification number on it. And in no way is she trying to use the HSC crap as a form of safety training. I told her to invest in some quality training for proper handgun handling. I also hope she can get an LTC because of where she works and the danger of her being there. There are some security gaurds their that have a weapon and a LTC. Right now she is in the process of getting a taser.Gun control is NOT missing.Comment

She cannot start a DROS without a CA DL or ID -- I'm surprised any dealer would permit anyone to start a layaway without a CA DL or ID. There is no address on a passport -- it's worthless in the process of buying a gun.Lol no, she has a kimber 1911 custom TLE II on layaway. BTW -- "disturbed one" -- if you wish to be taken seriously on the forums, why don't you ask the moderators to permit you to change your "handle" -- I know it was suggested in another thread.Life Member NRA and 2A Foundation.

Handle? Disturbed1 is a screen i chose a long while back when I was into that band. Since I am a member on alot of forums and dont want to change that screen name because its easy to remember and the password has keys in that name. So, on forth from that. We are heading to the DMV anyways tomorrow to get her a CA ID. I just wanted to know if there was a way around that. I should have put on a flame suit before I asked the question I guess. It was a simple question, lol. Thank you Don for your useful information. IDs are about 25 bucks not ten. The money was not the problem by the way. It was the time that made it hard. I have told her numerous times she needs to take the damn DL test since we first met she always puts it off from fear she would fail the written portion.Gun control is NOT missing.Comment
