I sold my G19 a week or so ago to generate some funds for another Cz pistol. Ended up getting the Cz-P01 and I absolutely love it, don't think I'll never pick up another glock again (unless its a 10mm). I ordered the P-01 sight unseen from my local FFL and here are my first impressions:
Size: I was a bit shocked at how big it was (insert off colored joke here) about the same size as my 75 compact 40.
Weight: Good light pistol, feels about half the weight of my 75 compact 40.
Feel: Typical comfy Cz feel (except the Cz 52, wtf Strakonice!)
Controls locations: I can hit everything with my medium sized hands. Slide release, decocker, and the mag release were all attainable without grip shift.
Overall first impressions: I was quite impressed with the pistol overall. Nice weight, comfy, although a bit big. This was also the first product I've bought that looked exactly like the stock photo. Price was nice too at $523 by itself.
The wife let me take it to the range today (after my daughter's dang doctor appointment for a darn stiff neck). I ran 110 rounds through it just to mess around and see how she behaves. Having said that I only used a nifty "self healing" ground target box. It was pretty easy to pick up a blaze orange box on 2" of snow.
Sight picture: She liked to point very well for me and agreed with my method of aiming/firing.
Trigger: Good enough for me. I've never gotten a hold of a really nice trigger, only stock stuff so I'm pretty easy to please.
Decocker: Nice and light. My father in law's 75BD has a really hard decocker that annoys me.
Reliability: I shot 10 rounds of 115gr gold dots and 100 rounds of 115gr freedommunition.com reloads with not even a sniff of a malfunction.
Accuracy: I'm a developing marksman but I had no trouble at all hitting my reactive box (5" a side) at 15 yards and at 25 yards I only missed occasionally.
Sights: Need some after marked sights eventually. Cz makes a great pistol but whoever developed their sight paint crap needs to be fired. My 75 compact 40 that was born in 2008 and purchased as new/old stock in October 2011 has faded sights already.
I'm very, very pleased with this little gem. I just wish I would have picked it up before wasting time with the G19. I will say this for glock though, they are easy to sell when your done with 'em.
