Is that the G.I. or Tactical? If its a Tac $450 is a very good price. Enjoy the new pistol.

I don't understand why people have to leave negative comments on here. If you don't like it then leave your comments to yourself.

An RIA is an RIA...notice I said twice they are fine guns.

Yet the class warfare crowd feels the need to elevate the RIA to something it is not and attack anyone who dares to speak the truth.

              RIA = a good (the best?) sub $500 1911...

              Nothing more, nothing less.

I wonder how easy it would be to polish up that slide and frame to make it look nicer. I fondled a couple RIA's before I got two sig 1911s and a GSG 1911 .22 on saturday...

Im kind of thinking they would be great to play with durcoat or cerakote and I dont think that it would take much to polish them up and make them look pretty!

How do you like the crimson trace? I sold my M&P to a friend and he wants the crimson trace grip for it, Ive never used one

Who pissed in your Wheaties this morning. I am sure everyone knows that grips dont make it a $1000 dollar gun, dude thinks it doesn't look like a cheap G.I. model with the new grips; in fact I know what he means after making some custom scales for my buddys Springfield G.I. model. The wood grips make it look like a model T, the grips we put on really improved its aesthetic appeal.

The looks improved so much with the new grips on his G.I. model that I valued its looks at $1187, which is almost as much as the higher end Springfield pistols. Now we just need to find a buyer!

Some people actually think wood grips look good (not the RIA ones) and are appropriate for a GI model 1911...crazy I know.

Just goes to show you it takes all types...Don't even get started on the stag grips, ebony, ivory, mammoth, sterling, pewter, and god know what other types of grips that are out there.

Unfortunately, sometimes even a $1000 gun is not a $1000 gun!

Hey wait a second, what exactly IS a $1000 gun? Does it shoot two bullets instead of the one a $500 gun does?

That we can totally agree on, but the springfield and ria wood grips that I have witnessed were pretty bad. The springfields I say in the store this weekend were much nicer

Like I said just enjoy the RIA for what it is...it's fine.
I bet if I put wood grips on my glock, it'll look better than any 1911 and make it look like a 2k gun.

                            Who really cares dude?

Hey OP, congrats on purchase. I'm eyeing one. Mind if I ask where you bought it?

Thats a common misconception in the gun world. a $1000 dollar gun shoots bullets $500 dollars per second faster than a $500 dollar gun. They also shoot follow ups twice as fast so [2X(.45 + $500FPS=BETTER)]...

Last weekend I tried writing the work KIMBER with a sharpie on my buddys G.I. model and he started keyholing shots at 75 feet regularly. I imagine if we engraved it in the groups would shrink further. Ill report back after I try it
