Its a direct blowback. In my opinion i'd save my money since I dont like direct blowback pistols. It has a really top heavy balance.

Why not buy the FMK pistol with the bill of rights, its equally cheap!

Hey if it floats your boat then get it. Since you have already shot one and liked it go for it. If you shoot regularly you will easily spend $150 on ammo.

my first handgun was a c9 and guess what I still have it. Why you ask, because it a inexpensive gun that I can let friends that are first time shooters shot it and don't have to worry if it drops or gets a scratch. Since its a 9m its cheap to feed. I say get one, good gun to go out and have fun with friends.

We have one,...at first I was not thrilled. However, I got use to it and it takes the abuse and no issues even on 200 + round shooting days.
Along with Springfield, S&W's, Rugers, Kimber's we have 3 Hi Points. The only issue I have had was with one of my XD's. Most have 1000+ rounds them all.

You can't beat the value on any of the Hi Points. I have out shot many "Hi Quality" guns with my cheap ugly HP's.

That being said, you can pick up service trade in Glocks aND xd'S for as low as $350 with night sights. My opinion is to go this route if you plan to accessorise it or CC.
Otherwise pick up the C9 and a bunch of ammo, break in the triger and get familiar with it.

                      I am actually looking into getting a .40 caliber hi-point - 200 bucks new
Good luck with that, last time I checked they aren't on the roster, and I doubt any FFL is going to bother doing an SSE on a 200 dollar gun. I know this because I had the curious itch to try a hi-point but I already have a good 9mm, so I figured I would try the 40 or 45. Only the 9 and 380 are on the roster when I checked 2 weeks ago.

If you like it, buy it!

Honestly, the gun is the cheapest part of shooting. Ammo, range time, "accessories" ... it will all add up over time. Might as well shoot something you like, be it a Hi-Point or a Hi-Power.

I don't think you can SSE a hipoint as all of their guns have the barrel welded to the frame......
