only thing i don't like about the glock 26 is that the pinky extension pinches my pinky! other than that it's a fine pistol..very accurate and easy to conceal if you have a permit...but as a range gun i would prefer the g19

26
I prefer shooting my G26 with Pearce grip extensions to my G19 and I'm also a better shot with it.Don't let the name fool you...Comment

No it is not. the xd9 is 1.18" wide the exact same width as the glock. With that in mind, if you already have an xd subcompact in 9mm, the 26 won't buy you anything. I have a glock 27 and am about your size, it's damn near impossible to conceal without a jacket, so my lady just got me an lcp (stealth gloat) which is much easier to hide.Originally posted by DecolignyNo question, I would definitely punch you in the nads.Comment

I have both. If I had to carry concealed one of them, I'd use the G19 because it fits pretty much the same on me as the G26. But on my body, the G19 is longer so it hid better, that the 'stumpy' G26 which felt like a brick attached to my hip.... if that makes any sense. Although, everyone's body type will be different, and that is just what worked for me.
For range use, I used my G19 about 80% of the time. It's also my HD gun at home. My G26 stays in my BOB the majority of the time and serves as a backup/spare gun to use (since it can take my G19 mags).Comment

As an additional note to my previous comments:
With regard to my 26 and 27, I personally find it a bit more difficult for a smooth/quick presentation from an iwb holster. The compact sizes in lieu of the subcompact sizes suit me better for the said purpose. That is another important consideration, as well.
Long story short, work with as much as you can prior to making a final decision.Comment

I'd choose the 19 over the 26 any day, whether it's for the range or for carry. But then again it comes down to personal preference. I personally found the 26 too small and not comfortable to shoot.Originally posted by G.
