Which one should I get? I can only have one. I want the option to conceal carry it if need be. It will mostly be a range gun . Does the G19 conceal good? I'm 5'10" 185 lbs. Would the 26 be better and just get the pink extentions ?

I really like the 19 at the range...I guess it's not bad to conceal (with the right holster) but if carrying IWB all the time, the 26 will be lighter and much more comfortable...also semi-pocketable if necessary. And yeah, the variety of extensions out there for the 26 give you everything from a pinky rest to a full grip. So: Range but sometimes carry along, then maybe the 19; Full-time carry and sometimes range, then 26.Comment

Carry..?..the Glock 26.
It will also run every Glock magazine you own for range fun.
(actually I prefer the Glock 27 in .40 for concealed carry; also you can get a conversion kit to run 9mm for range plinking, but this is getting to complicated already)
(Further complication: the Glock 27 will convert to 9MM, also with a barrel swap and same magazine, you can run 357 SIG) Time for coffee...

If you have the option for CCW I would go with the Glock 26. I'm 5' 9" and 185 and iot to conceal a similar 4" pistol I need to use a jacket. However subcompacts and belly revolvers go IWB.
The pearce pinky grips help out a lot in giving your pinky finger a grip and levering against he recoil moment created in your wrist, and like Oceanbob mentioned you can run 19 or 17 mags with your carry piece.
Regarding running .40SW and 9mm together, I have a friend who owns a 22 and a 27. He was considering buying his wife the 19 and 26 since she was more recoil sensitive. He was demonstrating the manual of arms with my weapon and after telling her, "Make sure you don't mix 9mm and .40SW," he promptly grabbed one of my 19 mags, slammed it home in his 22 and started firing with FTE drills for about 3 rds until he figured it out. He later just bought her another 27 based on that experience.Originally posted by Josh3239You should be more worried about how to use your guns, not what guns will be "magical".Comment

@OP
The 19 will afford itself to a better all around handgun.
I am 5' - 9" / 175 lbs. and have no issues concealing the 19 in a CBST iwb holster. I use the 19 for IDPA, as well.
If legal concealed carry is an option for you, installing an extension on the 26 will yield the same frame grip size as the 19, IMO.
The 26 absolutely conceals better. Regardless of what you choose, get a good holster and gun belt for CC.Comment

I'd get the 19, since it is primarily for range fun. The 26 is not that not fun at the range IME. Mine never sees daylight.
I'm 5'10" 160lbs, and to me both are not ideal for concealed carry. I prefer something smaller like a pocket pistol. The 26 is so fat compared to the little modern pocket pistols that vanish into your pocket. I don't think I'll ever carry anything larger than an LCP. My glocks are for range fun. And my 19's are more fun than my 26 IMO.Chris

Get to a range that has both and try them out.
I have and carry both 27 and 23, and both carry and shoot well.
The key word in this post is both! Get both!
You are not that far from me. We can meet at the Mother Lode Gun Club for a quick shoot and you can try and compare 27, 23, and 27 with pinky and no pinky with many different holsters, inside, belt, and shoulder.
Then you could decide. Only difference between 27/23 and 26/19 is a bit of recoil difference.

Cool. So I'm leaning towards the 19. It just seems to be the best all around gun out there. How much smaller is the 19 compared to the 17? I used to own a 17 but it had a magwell and I never tried to conceal it but it was probally too big in IMO.Comment

Glock 19 for duty carry, range, and home protection.
Glock 26 for CCW because lot easier than Glock 19.
Maybe 10mm sub compact GlockComment

If its gonna be a daily carry, get the 26 I carry all day and the difference in IWB comfort is huge with fewer ounces, short barrel/grip. I'm 6'00 160 pounds and IWB carry with the G19 sucks when its at the 4 oclock position. While sitting, I feel the grip pressing against my back and the barrel poking my ***. With the G26, I completely forget I'm carrying. The grip is short enough that is doesnt cause discomfort while sitting on it nor does it dig into my ***. If your planning OWB, thats a different story.
Also, if your limited to 10 round mags, whats the point when you can carry 10+1 in a sub compact? For range comfort, just throw on a Glock 17 mag with a grip extension. As far as accuracy, the 26 is no less accurate than my 19.Last edited by c3 rolling; 02-28-2012, 10:20 AM.Comment

I find the 26 grip horribly uncomfortable. Adding the grip extensions fixes it but then it's so close to the frame length of the 19 why bother? Plus you lose the extra five rounds the 19 provides (assuming you have full capacity mags) which doesn't seem worth it. I carry IWB 98% of the time and the slightly longer barrel length doesn't matter (mainly use a good ol' cheap crossbreed supertuck). I carry a 17 or 34 on duty but carry the 19 off duty every day with no issues.
I used to only use 1911's and didn't have a problem carrying a full size 5" off duty in an IWB (much more expensive custom holster). Sure the 19 is a little fatter, but it's not difficult at all. I have yet to find a reason to bother with a 26 yet. I'm 5'11" and 180 and a 19 in the crossbreed disappears with a t-shirt and jeans.Last edited by hitman_usmc; 02-28-2012, 10:12 AM.Comment

Lots of people claim that the subcompact grips are awkward or uncomfortable, but you will grow to like them. I did the same with my 27. It's so easy to conceal as well. Not that the 19/23 is difficult to conceal, but the subs shoot just as well and conceal that much easier."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
