I did a ppt last Sunday , I was the seller. And the shop made us fill out all kinds extra forms, one said have you purchased a handgun in the last seven days? So is there something about PPTs with a seven day wait? It would be the first I heard of it.

Not trying to thread jack this seems related.

if you bought the gun at noon on Feb 1 (when the DROS is physically submitted in the system, there is a time stamp), you count 30 days from there. Feb 2 is the first day, etc. 30 days comes out to be March 2. After 12PM on March 2, your 30-days is up and you can submit a new DROS.

not sure of the form you mention, it might be a store form that is basically a checklist to make sure everything is covered. No, there is no state law that prohibits multiple PPTs within 7 days. There is a federal requirement that says that if you transfer multiple handguns through ONE dealer within a 5? day period, that the FFL must send in a report of multiple purchases. Perhaps that is what that question was asking.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

          Think it's this form: http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-3310-4.pdf

Read about it here on Calguns somewhere and so I've made sure to not do PPTs and new purchase DROS at same FFL within 5 days. =)

yes, that is the federal form that the FFL must fill out if he transfers multiple handguns to a buyer within 5 business days. But the FFL fills that out, not the buyer, so I don't think that is the form that anayaphoto is talking about.

I know this doesn't apply in the current dates being discussed, but I'm curious to know what happens when there is a DST Spring Forward or Fall Backward time shift somewhere in the 30 day period. Does it mean that during those times I will have to wait either 719 hours in the Spring or 721 hours in the Fall? How does it work?

I think the way the law is written, 30 days does not equate to 720 hours so it shouldn't matter.

Found this link (http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pd...obuls/9907.pdf) that says:
DOJ will reject Dealer’s Record of Sale (DROS) applications submitted by any firearm dealer when it has been determined that the purchaser has completed a handgun DROS application that has been accepted by DOJ within the past thirty calendar days. In computing the thirty day period, the date the DROS application is accepted for processing by DOJ shall count as the first day.
I don't think it matters whether you purchase at 1AM or 11PM, it still counts as the same day. After reading about instances where DROS application was submitted after 720 hours on the 30th day, I'd rather wait an extra day (31st) to be sure I'm not forced to wait an extra 10 days because of a rejected DROS.

Would that shop be Targetmasters? They fill out all kinds of extra forms there. Paperwork there usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. Everywhere else,it takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

Find a handgun on consignment or do a ppt.

I went in to do DROS on a G17C I had ordered, and in the shop was a good condition G29 on consignment.... Ended up with them both

                      haha... Maybe...

Funny I did sold another pistol to another buyer at another shop earlier that day and it took 10 minutes, filled out no paperwork and signed my name once, and gave a thumb print.
