If I was looking for a P22, I'd probably go check out the Ruger SR22 instead. The P22 can be finicky till you find what it likes to eat. Breaking down the gun to clean it can be a PITA. It's not as hard as a Ruger MKIII though. You have to either grab the recoil spring guide rod and compress the spring, through the slide or use the little plastic 'tool' to get the guide rod through the slide. My other complaint is the slide itself. It's made from a cast zinc-alloy. There are steel slugs in certain areas like the slide stop to prevent total erosion of the slide. After 300-500 rnds, the steel slug will be exposed. I really think they should have invested in a milled aluminum slide and not cheap cast zinc. Other then that, it's an OK gun. It's not a match pistol by any means but it's fun to plink with and to use as teaching device for new shooters.

I wouldn't pay over $300 for one and even that seems like a lot. You can get them for $250-275 range.

it eats everything but i feed it rgb's. shoots great. the muzzle rise is a real fun i recommend this over most 22 pistols

How does it compare with the P99? I've held the P99 my girlfriends father had 1 and it felt great. Is it basically the same? Or is it a noticeable difference quality wise?

The P22 is not built to the same quality as a P99...but it also costs about $200 less than a P99. You get what you pay for...

The P22 looks like a mini P99. The newest P22Q looks like a mini PPQ...

The gun is a bit sensitive to wear and must be lubed and cleaned properly.

Most of the issues with the early guns have been corrected as long as you keep it clean and feed it high velocity ammunition.
