How big are your hands? The gun is a canon.

It's on my list. There are a few that are before it, though. Gotta Catch 'Em All!

I've always found the recoil on the .45 USP to be very manageable. I've never shot a MK23, so I'm not qualified to say what it's like, but I can only imagine that it's even smoother as it's a bigger gun.

I would love to have the MK 23, but my hands cant comfortably fit on a regular HK USP full size... So the MK 23 would be a lost cause for me

I'm in the same boat. I just want it for my collection.

I LOVE my Mark 23. Its a huge pistol. Like, REALLY huge but its lots of fun to shoot. The desert eagle is really the only thing I can think of that is of equivalent size.

Recoil is very light. I've never found 1911s to be hard hitters, but this certainly kicks way less than any 1911 I've fired. Magazines are insanely expensive, but then again, anything associated with this particular handgun is expensive.

I've wanted one for a while and had to jump through a lot of hoops to get a new one. They recently ceased production of the Mark 23, so new ones are hard to come across in general. I paid zero for mine, but I also got the hook up from my best friend as a graduation gift. Expect to pay $2300+ for one in CA, these are not easily or cheaply acquired.

I don't have the heart to neuter mine, so I don't get to shoot it except for Reno trips. I'm thinking about getting a second barrel to remove the threads on so I can actually assemble my pistol for use in CA. These are collector guns more than anything. I can honestly say most people are better served by the USP than the Mark 23. You get more features, less weight, and less size for WAY less $$$. However, if you are like me and this is your dream gun, then go for it! I absolutely HAD to have a Mark 23, and I'll always think of it as my favorite and best handgun.

I was going to give you a quick review on my Mark 23 but he pretty much summed it up!

+1 on this. It's an interesting gun, to say the least, but from practical perspective, it's better to go with USP. My Mk23 was previously owned by a collector and it's still sitting in my safe since I bought it. If I want to shoot a .45, I use other pistols.

i see. didnt know it was stopped in production. was wondering why i couldnt really find any. Yeah it looks awesome but it would not be a "collectors" type of use for me. A good USP will certainly be something I will look for. Awesome setup though! it looks amazing, congrats man

Are you sure they are not in production? I bought a new one from a distributor on Friday and they seem to get them in all the time.

The HK rep I talked to at shot show said they had between 300-1000 sitting in the factory, but they've ceased production.
