Installed an Ed Brown thumb safety, does this look wrong?

I got sick of the stock thumb safety chaffing up my side in an OWB concealment holster so I decided to order an Ed Brown "Tactical" single side thumb safety for my EMP. After about an hour of fitting and polishing, I finally got it to fit correctly with a positive click up and down.....Now heres the issue, the safety appears to be too thin on the flat portion compared to the stock safety . I had to drill the indent for the plunger further outward because the plunger wasnt sitting where the factory indent was in the un-locked position. The plunger almost looks likes it going to pop out but it functions correctly. I flipped the thumb safety up and down about 200 times to make sure. This is the first time Ive installed an aftermarket safety so I'm not sure if this is considered normal.. Is this safe or should I take it off? Im afraid the plunger tube might have too much outward pressure and will come loose....

I don't like the fit of the safety in the slide, but as long as it passes the safety checks (you did them, correct?), it will be fine.

There is no way your detent is going to come out over the top of that safety unless the plunger tube comes loose.

Make sure there isn't a gap between the plunger tube and the frame and double check it's staking to be sure.

As long as it functions properly you should be good.

It is a normal artifact of the Ed Brown design...as long as all the other tolerances are within spec, you should be OK. Folks don't talk about it much, but high end builders are aware of it and usually install different thumb safeties...all you need to do is compare the thickness of the plates between a few to see the difference.

I had a builder recommend not going with the Brown for this reason...I had asked for the Brown install because of how it fit my thumb joint...and related to me that the plunger had overridden the thumb safety's plate during his testing. His concern was that it would occur during hard duty use and tie up the action...the plunger blocks the movement of the safety off if the plunger pops over the plate.

I hate getting this far into a job and then finding out something is not right that is beyond my control to fix.

This would bug me and I know I would eventually start over with a different brand.
It will likely work fine as long as the plunger tube stays tight.

Yes and functions correctly. I took it off and slapped it on my Trophy match with the same results... Although it works, it's really starting to bug me since this is a carry gun. I'm going to have to suck it up and order another one, maybe a wilson combat. Thanks for the input guys.
