Started shooting again this month. So far I'm at 250 rounds of .45ACP this month. The future of my shooting sessions will be heavily dependent on ammo money.

id say at least 1000 through 3 or 4 difft pistols. another 500 rifle and 200 or so shotgun.

Usually under 500 rounds for all my handguns per month. I do a good mix of rifles and shotguns too, and I usually switch to handguns as a way to spice things up.

I dont go out for any less than 500 in my pistols and 1K in the AR's.

I used do about 250 9mm between 2 or 3 guns and 200 .22 but now I have changed my approach and shoot less than 100 9mm per trip.

How and why?

Over the summer I went shooting with some friends in AZ at an out of the way place they frequent off road. They go every weekend and shoot less than 50 rounds each but focus on quality not quantity. They create exercises such as stack 10 cans 2 high then try and shoot the top can only so each shooter does 5 shots and then his partner critiques the shooting.

They are all very good shooters with handguns at 10-25 yards. You can do the same thing at a range with paper targets with "follow the leader" where shooter 1 calls his shot then shooter 2 has to put his round through the same hole.

This tends to slow you down and let you focus on accuracy and technique.

You get more out of each range trip while shooting less.

I shoot probally 40+ times a year , Dont take the pistols enough but when i do i will often go through alot . last weekend was exception and i fired a total of 10 rounds of handload 454s and then sat back and watched my grandson shoot the other 40, I thought when he got to the 300 grain loads he would holler enough but he finished the box . didnt ask for more though
