Runway - No. If you buy the gun from the shop doing the conversion they won't charge you gor the barrel or screws. They will charge you a service fee for the conversion.

Once you DROS the gun and wait your 10 days you go in and pick up your gun.

AFTER you go outside the shop and realize that you really want a semi-auto gun with a shorter barrel walk back into the store and ask them to trade barrels and screws with you.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It really is a painless process. Also remember that this is a written exemption in the law and not a loophole. I've tried explaining that to out of state FFLs without much luck.

It doesn't...did someone tell you it does?

Perhaps they are giving you the OTD cost? (and rounding up?) If you supply the gun by ordering it for $1000

        $1000 for the 08011xse
        $30 for shipping
        $100 for the SSE process
        $65 for the transfer fee
        $25 for the Dros
$104.56 for 8.75% tax on everything except the DROS
        --------------------
$1324.56 OTD...could do better with the right FFL...

        Could always pay more also...

If you want to SSE one get ready to wait. I am waiting for one now. It is going to basically cost me the same as an "on roster" XSE. The only tough part of the SSE process is the wait.

Ok. The only thing that bothers me is this "screw" to prevent the magazine from engaging. Are we saying that the shop drills and taps a hole in the mag well?

I must be missing something because that's a show stopper.

They remove a grip screw and replace it with a long one.

                This^^^

Some also use a dummy mag or mag block that the long screw goes through. Not needed but some do this.

Ahhhh, makes much more sense. Scared me for a while. I was thinking; why the heck would anybody do this?

I think I'm all learnt-up now. Thanks all!
