I recently ordered a Ruger single-shot .327 and am pretty excited for its arrival. On a few reconnaissance missions, though, I've learned that the ammo's not exactly "low-hanging fruit." I'm coming across threads that say .32 ammo is a viable alternative, but I want to be darn sure this is the case before I stick substitute rounds in that pricey beauty. Can anyone support that claim and, if so, are there any downsides to using them.

.32 ammo for the .327
"I'm your huckleberry..."Tags: None -
It's my belief that the 327 isn't going to be around long. Ammo will always be expensive and hard to find.
Best to you and your new Ruger.***Honesty is the Foundation of One's Character***
*** In comparing the virtues of various calibers, using hollow point ammo: it is absolutely undeniable that, while a 9 mm or .40 S&W may or may not expand, a .45 will never shrink. ***

A steady diet of .32 longs may eventually build up deposits at the end of the chambers which will make chambering the longer .327 round difficult. Just clean the chambers regularly and you should be ok. I shoot .32 longs through my .32 HR Ruger single action without problems.Comment

Yes, you can shoot 32 Mag and at least one of the others; Colt or S&W, I can't remember which one though.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

COOL!
Really like to see some pics and a review of that one.
Jim March claims that it would be the best defensive single action!
I agree.
Better think about getting into reloading to be able to shoot.Comment

If you look at the progression of .32 ammo, each "improvement" involved a lengthening of the case to hold more powder. So you you can use any of it... .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Mag. as long as previously mentioned, you clean the chambers in the cylinder before using a longer case ammo.
This is not any different than the practice of using .38 Special in a .357 Magnum or .44 Special in a .44 Magnum.
And using the .32 acp is on the level, it's a semi-rimmed pistol case, that can also be used in a revolver without any "moon clips"... on occasion and for giggles, I've used it in my Ruger SP101 .32 H&R.Guns only have two constant enemies; Rust & Politicians

we have a sp101 in .327 ... as of today... let us see... It probably has about 1800 rounds of fiochhi .32sw long wadcutter through it...
Ammotogo.com has it for about 15.00 a box upon occasion and i buy the 500 rd cases... tried to order my 4th case recently but they only had 8 boxes...
once the chamber builds up sufficiently to make 327's hard to extract...oh.. say 600-700 rounds of longs... then soak the chambers in kroil... and watch a football/baseball game.. during breaks soak again... then when the game is over brush it out followed by a tight patch on a jag and you is in bidness...
love mine.. alot.. it also fits in my ankle holster pretty neatly too...Greebo, as a matter of feline pride, would attempt to fight or rape absolutely anything, up to and including a four-horse logging wagon. Thank you all for your input. It's been helpful AND encouraging.
smle-man, morrcarr67, dadjx2, Gunhacker & El Gato: Thanks for confirming that the .32 is OK, and throwing in the addendums (cleaning, soaking the chamber, types of .32, where to get the, etc).
HighValleyRanch: Yes! I'm already casually shopping, and polling shooter friends, for the right starter reloading kit."I'm your huckleberry..."Comment

you can use any of the .32 rounds in it, sorta like using .38 in a .357 just have to clean the cylinder after use before putting in the longer round.I recently ordered a Ruger single-shot .327 and am pretty excited for its arrival. as for those that say it won't be around long, don't listen to them, it's a great round has good power and will take down most varmints 2 and 4 legged.
you can get all the .327 you want by looking on line.
I love my ruger SP101 .327, as a matter of fact my daughter "borrowed" my 1st one so I bought a second. They have a good kick about the same as a .357 (yes I said it)sigpic

Liketoshoot: Thanks for the reassurance. A friend told me he shot the single action and fell in love. 'Course, impulsive me, I had to have it."I'm your huckleberry..."Comment

We have a number of these now.... wife, sister, Mom Dad... The shortys are Taurus and the s/s is a SP-101.
I bought 1,000 of .327 brass from Freedom Arms. Both function flawlessly, no buildups, no hard extraction and I'm loading a full boat 110gr bullet.
The popularity is growing and so are the supplies of brass for reloading and the commercial too. This is an incredible little revolver with ballistics performance right at the low end of the .357 magnum. Perfect small package carry piece.
