    1911 Frame

Are there any 1911 frames that can be purchased in California?

    Thanks,

I do not believe there are any bare frames on the roster, as they aren't testable unless they're complete firearms.

How many people want to build a 1911 rifle? And if you DROS it as a rifle, you can't build it into a pistol - same reason people build AR and AK lowers from 80%.

            jellyb,

This is an on-going battle I've been fighting myself. I've had to buy whatever shows up here on CG and pay a premium... but the pay off is in the end, I usually have real works of art from gunsmiths!

What's the most desirable 1911 frame for a custom build? STI 2011?? Ramped or non-ramped???

That all depends on what you plan to build. Things like what you want the gun for, caliber, slide/barrel length, and who is building the gun comes into play. Hope this helps.

I want to have a ss .40 since there none on the approved list. My next option would be to have one built.

                  Thanks for the info.

That's what I want too. You might want to talk to Ryan @ Table Rock about doing a SSE conversion on this.

                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I just saw a STI Trojan at Tracy Rifle and Pistol but I didn't see what caliber it was. I had just sold a gun so I knew it would be a bad idea to pick any up and really look at them but it looked like that.
