Colt Diamondback

I cant locate a Diamondback in .22 with a 6" barrel here in CA. They are obtainable out of state. They are not on the roster having been discontinued long before the roster. It there an easy way to do a Single Action only on this fine handgun ( to be reconverted after its "jail time")

Best bet is to find one on consignment from a local shop.

Cabela's in Springfield, OR has one. I think they want like $1200. It's a 6 hour turn from Medford. You might want to talk to Ryan @ Table Rock and see if he will go and get it, convert it and ship it to your favorite LGS

Lock Stock and Barrel in Simi Valley has a nice UNFIRED, stone-*** new six inch .22 Diamondback that they are putting up for auction this month. I handled it -- it was freaking unfired! i almost PLIOTZED -- the four inch DB 22 is my dream gun, but seeing this "mini-Python" was quite a thrill. If you win it's a private [party transfer in their shop.
I wouldn't conceive of a SSE on a fine revolver like this --

You don't do a SSE on a revolver. You convert it to Single Action Only.

I wouldn't f*** with Colt's lockwork -- there are literally thousands of these guns in California -- somewhere -- and a Diamondback in acceptable condition would be more than $1200 from an out of state seller...

+1 for the above (based on several decades of working on Colts).

While the conversion could be done, there very few smiths left that I would either trust with the job or that have a trigger/hammer that they would be willing to butcher up for the conversion.

Keep shopping; they are worth the wait.

I dropped by today to take a look at that Diamondback.

The seller is firm on asking $1275 and it does not have original grips and no box or papers.

It's in good shape, maybe 97% with some wear on the barrel and a few minor scratches. 6 inch, blue .22RF.

All that being said it's worth no more than $1K, IMHO

Good tip though and really enjoyed all the taxidermy. Let me tell you Cabelas has nothing on this place...

But I agree DB are not easy to find and when you do they are mostly 4" 38's. So if anyone is looking and you have a spare $1300 you know where to find one!!!
