Single Shot Exemption Experience

I'm having a hard time (mainly because of the holidays) finding someone to do an SSE. I would like for the gun to be in stock but of course, its not. lol

Most of the shops I've contacted so far cannot do the SSE because they dont have the ability to do it. Two of them so far dont have the correct barrell and I'm assuming dont want to because they said they didnt have it/no way they could.

Tablerockarms.com is in Oregon and didnt have a supplier/dealer for the RIA 1911 Tactical in 9mm so they couldnt do it either. That looks like a good site because they have a lot of different options listed so I thought I'd throw it out there.

All of my SSE conversions have been through Valkyrie Arms. Each time the experience was great. Sometimes its hard to get ahold of staff at VA, but that's usually because they are always swamped with customers. It's usually better to just go there instead of calling them. The actual SSE process has always been super smooth. I mostly transferred 1911 style guns which VA already had the parts for.

Probably one of the things I'm most proud of this year is convincing at least three (formerly anti-CA dealers) to ship to California via SSE. Usually this involves a combination of informing them about SSE, informing them about how easy CFLC is, how much of a market CA is, reinforcing the idea that "what do you have to worry about? you are shipping to a FFL, it's up to my receiving FFL to make sure the gun is transferred in accordnace with local and state laws", and finally playing on the idea that they can legally help "give the finger" to CA's stupid gun laws.

Depending on their policy, dealers may disassemble them into parts kits for delivery with the gun. It falls upon the buyer to use the parts kits in a legal manner.

In my case, since this is a purchase from a CA retailer therefore yes there's sales tax.

Any FFL that is up on SSE is going to be following the law re: sales tax collection.

The few tabletop FFLs left that still don't collect sales tax on out of state retail purchases are probably not into doing SSEs...
