I recently read a post from Ryan that said he is back and DOING THE SSE CONVERSIONS AGAIN! He feels he'll be able to handle it okay because there won't be as much demand now that more California shops do it...

P.S. Why get one PPQ when you can have multiple? PPQ is good to go out of the box!

If I wasn't looking to expand my Walther collection to include more variety I'd buy another PPQ or P99 in a heartbeat! Probably another PPQ since I already have 2 P99s haha.

mspiredm3, it's a great pistol, but I hope we haven't over-hyped it for you. It all comes down to personal preference. Some button-type mag release fans cannot get beyond the PPQ's lever. Others cannot ever get used to, or control, the flip. Some complain about the recoil in the 9mm - cant imagine what they'd say about the .40! A lot simply have zero interest in doing things even slightly different than the shooting technique they use on their other pistols.

Just approach the PPQ with an open mind and avoid comparisons until you've reached an acceptable level of proficiency

Thanks, the ONLY concern I have with it is the muzzle flip. My favorite pistol right now is my CZ SP01 Phantom, which has spoiled me with it's felt recoil and muzzle flip. Hopefully I can deal with it with the PPQ.

What would i expect to pay for one of these via the SSE in 9mm this thread has me hooked.

I got my PPQ .40 last April from EBR Works. The SSE was $100 on top of the $519 price of the gun. Still, a good price for a gun of this quality and far below the $1k range of comparable HK's and Sigs.

As for the muzzle flip, try not to pay too much attention to it. It's there, but in no way affects accuracy or speed if your grip/shooting technique is fundamentally solid. A little practice over 3-4 range trips should be enough to get good groupings for semi-experienced shooters. Beginners should probably take a class or two get the fundamentals right instead of layering bad habits on top of bad form.

SSE's not that big of a deal. Just need a good dealer to do it. Table Rock up north, EBR Works in Ventura County or OC Armory or Riflegear down south.

I dont think Riflegear does the SSE on Walthers.
and Ryan is back at it.

Not to bump an old thread but what's necessary for me to bring my PPQ from Colorado to CA? do I need to put on those SSE components, bring it over myself and then register it here locally? Also anyone know if they make any sort of mag stops to bring my 15 round mags down to 10?

I used my PPQ for my time in the Police Academy with 2,000 rounds and 0 malfunctions. I had 20 cadets or so asking me about the gun. One even offered to buy mine off of me. You cannot go wrong with a Walther PPQ. When you pick one of these amazing pistols up you will most likely fall in love.

However, I suggest just buying some 10 round magazines and disassembling your 15 round mags.
