Hi everyone, Merry Christmas! Im in the market for my first 1911 and I have a couple of questions.

    1. What are some Colt 1911 models available in california that are currently sold in the market brandnew?
    2. Which Colt 1911 model do you recomend and why?

You can get most all Colt 1911's in CA. Some are on the roster some will need to be SSE. Pick one you like and buy it.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Two 1911s right off hand that are available are the O1991 and the XSE models. They come in either stainless or blued, use the series 80 firing pin and are on the CA roster. The O1991 is very GI looking whereas the XSE has all the goodies on it. I have the Colt O1991 and i love it! It is an excellent pistol that has been very reliable and accurate. If you want more of the old school GI look get the O1991. If you like all the fancy stuff get the XSE

These are two of the Colt 1911's that are on the roster:
        O1991

        and the O1980XSE

Getting an offroster Colt isn't really a problem but it does make things easier that those are actually on the roster.

I own an XSE, modified it heavily. Excellent gun.

I, too, own an XSE but stainless steel finish. I put a light idiot scratch on the frame near the trigger area but, oh well, it's a Colt and a keeper.

The XSE has the upgrades you would ultimately want after shooting the GI style.

I wish the XSE did not have the front serration.

Front serrations might not look pretty but they do come in handy when press checking the gun.

                Here are some other models:

Colt Rail Gun, basically a railed XSE, in the $1000-1200 range.(Available in Blued, Bitone and SS)

Colt Combat Elite, basically a bitone XSE.

This is the priciest Colt 1911 currently in production:

Colt special combat government, most expensive model they currently produce. You mentioned you don't like slide serrations so this might just be the one for you.

I really like my Colt XSE, wish I had better photography skills. My pics don't do any justice to the gun.

                      You're in socal right?

Might wanna try Turners, while I was searching for mine, I was told multiple times by calguners and friends that live down there that they had them in stock from time to time. My XSE took about 8 months to acquire but they could be more widely available now.

Excellent choice, if you're gonna go with the Special Combat government I'd start looking for a single shot FFL for now since it's not on the roster. That way once your 31 days are up you'll be ready to go.

I would trade a few of my colts for one of those Special Combat Government in 38 super in hard chrome!
