If you want the 9 get it. I love my 45, but I'm picking up my SA loaded 9mm 1911 today. It's something I've been wanting for a long time.

Get either one, you may think your only getting one but just you wait. I'll bet most of us were planning to get just one, then we thought just one gun safe would hold enough. This is very addicting and the second one will be right around the corner. Less than a year ago I was just going to get one, I,ll be heading down tonight to get my 5th pistol, and I picked up my first rifle two weeks ago

My vote for first 1911 is always .45 ACP. My feeling has always been to master the original caliber, then play with whatever variation you enjoy. Since I will always come back to the .45 for home defense or competition, it makes little sense for me to start with a 9mm. That said I'm building an STI in .40 S&W for competition and next plan is a 9mm Commander just for fun. I just love .45 so my first 4 1911s were all .45's- sure it can be a bit expensive to shoot, so I started reloading and now it costs less than a 9 to shoot!I voted against Obama before it was cool.
Originally posted by 1911LuvrI beg to differ. The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!Comment

45acp gets my vote, I enjoy shooting my P220 way more than my G34. In 4 days my 1st 1911 is coming home, so my P220 might get semi retired
.
BTW: Reloading is another hobby to pick up, it will help you save money or it will make you shoot more (win/win situation in my opinion)....with liberty and justice for all. Void where prohibited, offer not valid everywhere, price may change. See Big Brother for details.Originally posted by zfields9mm might expand but .45 never shrinks! If you shop at Amazon.com please use the link below.
