Slightly above your budget (new), but you could pick one up, lightly used here on the forum.

        In subcompact, I own both a G26 and a Ruger SR9C.

I love both guns. The Glock is a little blocky carried against the body, the SR9C, although actually just slightly thinner, feels a lot thinner in the holster and in the hand.

The Glock racks and feeds like butter. The SR9C is crunchy when it racks and feeds, but is 100% reliable, if a little less aesthetic. I prefer the Glock safety setup, the 1911 style safety on the SR9C seems kind of redundant, given its other characteristics.

The SR9C has some of the best sights out of the box I have ever shot, but night sights are easier and more plentiful to come by with the Glock. The SR9C (for me) is much more accurate. I can shoot it alongside my 1911's and it stands up very well, a few magazines make one big 1" hole at 15 yards. It is hard for me to hold groups twice the size of the SR9C with the G26.

One thing on the Ruger accuracy I have wondered about, although I have read others praise the gun's accuarcy, I wonder if I bought another, if it would also shoot as well, or if mine was kind of a fluke. I might give that a try one day. At $400 from Bud's, it won't cost a great deal to find out.

Frankly, if I were you, I would try a Ruger SR9C out before I bought any other sub-compact. On the other hand, the G26 is a sweety as well.
