Sig accessories... (How bad are pro mags?)

Didn't feel like starting a new thread.

Anyways, I dros'd my p226 today, pretty excited. Not picking up till 2 weeks from today

So how bad are pro mags? My sig came with them, I keep hearing that they have FTF constantly. I'd appreciate your input.

Also got my Wilson Combat for the sig 1911, can't wait to try them out.

Depending on its round count, you may want to consider replacing some of the internals. I sent my 220 back to Sig and had all the "small" parts replaced as well as adding night sights. I used a Hogue grip as that felt best in my hands.

Depending on how much cash you have to burn, I'd honestly get myself a class, and a TLR-1, in that order. I've been wanting to take a class really badly!

I think an organized CGN trip to FS would be one of the coolest things ever. My vote definitely goes to taking a class, though!

                  For my P220, I bought a TLR-1. Great light.

I bought a couple of holsters: Serpa, Comp-Tac Minotaur, Ryan Grizzle leather holster, and, most recently, a Safariland ALS (6378 IIRC) that accommodates the light.

I like the Comp-Tac for IWB and the Safariland for anything else. Very well made holster. I am a total rookie, but I feel the retention mechanism on the Safariland is better than the Serpa (although I took a Carbine/ handgun class with this gun and the Serpa. The holster worked perfectly).

Lastly, I sent my gun to Gray Guns for their action enhancement. I felt there was a large improvement in trigger function. While I wouldn't have called it bad before, after the work, everything feels like it's rolling on high quality bearings.
Guns, dogs and home alarms. Opponents are all of a sudden advocates once their personal space is violated.

I recommend sights first. They're something you use every single time you fire the gun. After that, definitely the light. As you mentioned.. you're very luke-warm about the grips and you're not even sure if they really work for you. For the most part it sounds like you just like them from an aesthetics stand-point, which is fine.. but I find that way tertiary, especially when you're going to spend significant money on it.

For my p226 early 2000s non-rail version, I want to get some E2 grips. I've shot Sammy's sig with E2 grips, it felt pretty good, but not sure if I like them more than the stock ones, although it did feel a tad better. I personally love the look of them. Your thoughts?
Also, I am really getting tired of these fugly TFO sights that I installed on my p226, where can I buy stock ones? (I bought the gun used and it had 6/6 sights on them , for .40 it's suposed to be 6/8, and 9mm 8/8) two dot, preferably.

Up next, my Sig Pro sp2022 .40. I need some light under $100, I heard TLR1 is pretty good, no need for lasers. Thoughts? Also, not in need of night sights for this gun, but I wonder which sights are compatible with that gun.

Also I need holsters for both, I heard serpa and sig holsters are great, I'd appreciate some pics, links and opinions. Thank you!
Why did you get TFO on your P226? Just wondering.....For your P226

I recommend some Mepro's (siglights) or Trijicon. 10 dollar difference, the mepros are brighter, no way around that, but trijicon is somewhat higher quality.

Streamlight TLR1, very friggin bright light, can be had for 90 bucks to just over 100 with shipping.

Since this is a range pistol and most ranges dont allow holsters (Mine does ), I recommend ALS/SLS. I hear good things about bladetech's though, I just like having some form of a retention button or switch.

Just looking at the E2 grips, I'm not sure myself. I haven't had a chance to actually hold a pistol with them on, just from the picture it looks like it would force my hand even lower down on the bore axis since its actually cutting directly in. While someone with smaller hands would like this rather than stock grips for someone with big hands (like me), I doubt this would help and would make me have to re-adjust my whole grip. YMMV.

In all honesty, as much as I love Sig, for the price you pay, you should get the standard grip and the E2 thrown in on the new models. Its the like the sig pro line or any other pistol with backstrap options, it would be better, that and an extra mag.

Bought TFO because a lot of Glock guys recommended. I didn't realize how cheap looking and fugly they were

I heard that sig has this package where they replace all the internal components and install night sights for $100.

Thanks for the responses, guys !

Yup, I've done it too. I sent my West German P226 in and had that done. Excellent service and it took less than a week. (Dont let haters tell you its bad service from Sig, its fantastic).

The only thing is that its a brand new pistol dude, it doesn't need all of that. Sig can and will do the Night sight work for 20 less than that new set of pins/springs package, you might as well just send it in if you dont have a punch or tools to do it yourself, but its 50 for VIP shipping :/. Since my P226 was 20 plus years old and I had it sent in and had everything done. My Trijicons were 2 years old so I just gave them the extra 20 bucks for the Night Sights to be put in. In all honesty the Mepro's are way brighter and easier to acquire than my old ones, but at 20/25 yards it is MORE difficult to shoot without the dots being smaller.

In any case 100 bucks is less than I paid, so if its a sale/discount go for it, its worth it. I paid 200 and got a free ramp polish and they even gave me some extra stuff.

I'd get sights and lights and when you get a chance then look for a holster.

Yea, my old ones were torn to shreds internally but still worked. I dont mind the old checkered ones, but I found hogue ones for 11 bucks online. No finger grooves, its utter perfection, highly recommended. I bought 2-3 of them for future purchases of Sigs.
