    taurus tracker 357 barrel issue

Well my post has two questions to it. First off I just bought a taurus tracker 4in 357mag and took it to the shooting range today, The gun fired flawlessly, I was using blazer ammo and it was very dirty which was fine because it was cheaper ammo but when I got home and went to clean it out, I had the hardest time getting the barrel nice and clean, I spent close to two hours with the copper brush, patches with hopps nine on them and repeated for a long while, and the barrel is still not as clean as I hoped for. Is this normal? and the second question, when i was cleaning it out, a little inch long metal sliver came out of the barrel, it was maybe about as thin as a piece of lead from a mechanical pencil if even, looked like it could have been from the rifling or something can anyone help me out here?

We need pics...inside the barrel and the sliver.
If you bought it new, maybe have the dealer look at it for you.
Or, find a experienced CalGunner near you.

Aaaag upon further inspection, the barrel brush scratched the barrel, before people start telling me i used the wrong one, i used the correct one for the pistol. It also took a chip out of the barrel at the front! thats what the metal sliver was. Is the gun safe to shoot or what should I do at this point?!

Please send us a picture of the brush and the barrel so we can see.

I find it hard to believe you could remove any metal with a brass brush, hammer and chisel maybe ..

              I don't...after all, it is a Taurus

In all seriousness, good luck to the OP...I got rid of my problematic Taurus Tracker and never looked back

It'll be pretty hard to tell you what's wrong without seeing the pictures.

Also, you can scrub the barrel on any firearm until every last particle of carbon, lead, and copper is removed, but it's not really necessary. More guns have been ruined by cleaning than by shooting.

PROBLEM SOLVED! well this is my first handgun and so im new to the good and bad brands of ammo. I had blazer ammo and unknown to me it was lead bullets, so the build up in my barrel was lead and the regular hopps 9 wouldnt take care of it, got some hopps 10 and soaked it in it and scrubbed the hell out of the barrel and bam it was gone. As for the piece of metal, it was a piece of lead that was in the rifling on the bore.

Well that's good, and as mentioned, excessive cleaning is NOT good.

That's a lot of leading after ome session. How many rounds did you shoot through it?
