whats better than a Nighthawk Predator?

Getting my 1st 1911 soon, I would like to get a top shelf as my other pistol is a glock and hasn't cost much over the past few years. So i figure ide spring...besides, I'll get my ccw soon and so i wanted a full size to carry.

A full house custom from one of the www.louderthanwords.us smiths, but that may be a long wait.
My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.

What's your budget? Also it may be worth noting that some of the well known smiths at Nighthawk have (relatively) recently left for Wilson - doesn't mean quality has necessarily gone down, just worth mentioning.

3K budget. I want a buy once cry once that I can toss a surefire light on and be done.

The owners of Nighthawk started at Wilson turn about is fair play

Do you really want to carry, a 3K pistol? Hate to have that put in evidence.

I would vote for a box stock Les Baer TRS, take the remaining cash and buy 3000 rounds of ammo, holster and mags.

After shooting the whiz-bang Wilson Tactical Elite (which is the same gun) they are nice but not worth the extra money. Not to mention if you shoot USPSA it outs you out of single stack.

Come out and shoot mine. Over 16,000 rounds and still my favorite gun. I am in Concord. Sammy

Carrying a full size has it's issues, even my Ultra CDP is harder to hide than the M&P9c. Also understand that your carry gun is going to get the crap beat out of it, holster wear etc. It's a tool at that point and it'll wear.. Additionally most custom guns have a light trigger pull. IMO a 1911 platform cocked and locked with a light trigger is not a good idea. I'm not saying don't buy the gun but you're better off choosing another gun that's a better fit for CCW.

Wilson Combat has some aluminum framed models with an integrated light rail. That could fit your CCW role and also accept a light. Of course, they also have steel framed models with an integrated light rail.
