I had an MP 45 and the ergos were great and it was reliable. However, the trigger was horrible and could not justify spending another $100 to fix a trigger which S&W should have squared away themselves and not force the customer to fix. Sold it and bought a G21 SF and have never looked back.

Apex sear and I used a random 1911 spring to disable the magazine disconnect. You will love the M&P and will never look back, Glock reliability without the horrible ergos

I've heard both ways. Some like the Pro trigger better than the apex kit. I think it's more of a personal judgement than a fact...

Well, it is a judgement...and all judgement is based on the experience of the tester/judge. It doesn't make it any less a fact...however not everyone has the experience to make a valid judgement.

I had a chance to shoot a stock M&P 9L, a stock 9 Pro and a 9L that had been out fitted with the complete D/C AEK side by side on the range.

The 9L had a gritty trigger and an indistinct reset
The Pro had a smoother trigger...less grit and cleaner let off
The Apex Tactical 9L had a smooth take up and let off as well as a easily felt and heard reset.

What S&W does to the Pro models is clean up the Striker Block...just like the Apex Tactical Ultimate Striker or the Burwell DIY video.

I'm looking forward to Apex Tactical's re-engineered trigger bar to reduce flex. They also offer something that the Performance Center don't/won't...an extractor optimized for the 9mm. Not something for everyone, but very valuable to serious competitors

Was the Apex 9L you tried outfitted with the RAM as well? I've heard that is night and day on the reset. I am also considering the extractor they make as well. I'm not very picky on triggers, but I'll see how the 9 Pro feels when I get it.

The RAM is just as invaluable as the Duty/Carry trigger kit. The reset on my M&Ps were vague and almost nonexistent, with the RAM I can here and feel the reset. It's an excellent improvement over the stock configuration.

Yes this was a 9L that was set up for USPSA Production class

I don't know....IMO, that's like buying a Civic and expecting it to smoke muscle cars. If you want it to go faster, you have to spend more money on it to make it push its design envelope. The trigger doesn't come broken out of the box, it works; what exactly are you fixing? You wanted a better trigger, that's not S&W's problem. Why do you suppose there are so many smiths and aftermarket parts supporting 1911's? Everyone wants something better than factory. The M&P does what it was designed to do very well, it's ergo friendly, reliable, accurate. And all that for around $500-$600 retail? You're getting an amazing deal. Instead of the hassle of selling it and buying another gun and losing money on it, you could have just used/saved $100 to buy a whole new trigger kit that not only looks and feels like a Glock trigger, but is miles better in terms of reset and break. It's your money so I can't tell you how to spend it, but I feel perhaps people are being a little unfair to the manufacturer.

I think Smith and Wesson should have done something about the stock trigger because in both of my guns, they were pretty bad out of the box. However, an M&P with the added expense of the Apex parts is a better overall package than a Glock. Cost has never been a serious consideration for a self defense gun. Besides, a Glock is going to have to have much more work done at a much higher expense for me to be as happy with it as I am an Apex M&P. The grip would have to be reduced and that is at least as much as an Apex parts package, if not more so.

I have the FSS kit, fre, and did the mag disconect mod and have never looked back. The fit in my hand is rediculas! It's like it was made for my hand. have about 800 rounds through it and no problems at all! I used the stock trigger for 400 rounds and it was the same grittyness and random resets and now it's all predictable. I also like the m&p because it's light. I know the glock is lighter but the ergos is like holding a brick to me YMMV. My only next mod are some night sights.
