    XD40 Problem

A few months ago I bought an XD 40 subcompact. I love it except that every once in a while the slide will lock back even though I still have rounds left. I have heard about a limp wrist causing this, but that is not the problem. I shoot my glock with the exact same technique and it never happens. It's not the ammo either because I've tried several different kinds. Any input? Should I contact SA?

I have 2 xd's and have never had that problem. Contact SA and they will make it right if there is something wrong with the gun.

Does this happen with both magazines?
if so, <- next range trip, check on the grip, the left thumb.

maybe the spring is loose on the slide release.

I just held the gun in my normal shooting grip and my thumb doesn't seem to be very close to the slide lock, but next time I take it out I will make sure my thumb isn't anywhere near it. As far as the magazines are concerned, I'm not sure if it happens with both. I think it does but next time it happens I will mark the magazine and see if that's it. I never thought of the magazine because I don't see how that could be the problem.

are you wearing gloves while shooting?

is there tension on the slide lock when you remove the slide off the chassis?

I just held my xd9sc in my hand and can see how your right thumb can press up on the slide lock.

If it's the slide lock/thumb issue, pistolgear sells a nice replacement slide lock that is thinner and up out of thumb range. I use it because it's also longer so I can hit it with my stubby thumb with fewer problems when I actually WANT to lick it back. It has the nice side effect of keeping my thumb away from it when it's not desired.
