Serious question: Can someone tell me why someone would convert a SA/DA to SAO?

Is it because it is intended to be used in competition? I thought a SA/DA would be more useful in SD or everyday duty.

Removing disconnect and changing trigger usually. Most people swap the hammer at the same time also.

Well, some people also like a consistent trigger pull in their SD weapon and not have to worry about getting used to two different trigger pulls. So if you have a manual safety gun like the standard SP01, you can just carry cocked and locked ala a 1911 and just stick with the SA trigger pull. I don't mind the SA/DA trigger myself so I chose the decocker model P-01 since I didn't want to use any kind of manual safety. I prefer to just draw and fire for an SD weapon and not worry about forgetting to take the safety off. It's all about what's most comfortable for you and to train in it.

My SP-01 was tricked out earlier this Feb 2011 by CZCustoms.

Since I had my Firing Pin Block removed, my CZ is strictly a race gun.
NO HD duties.

All this work gave me a clean 3lb 2oz trigger pull.

Almost all of the SP01 here on the forum was
cheaper than what I got it for. I got mine for
around $850 out the door. I use it for to shoot
IPSC production, nice gun. Shoots pretty flat.
it wasn't that cheap for how much I got it but
it was well worth it.

Well it was a nice gesture to include the lock, but they really didn't think that one through.

Usually when I buy a gun I only get one stupid trigger lock that I'll never use, this time I got two! yay
