I was gonna suggest Mec-Gar magazines. It seems you have one of the very few pistols on the planet for which you cannot buy Mec-Gar mags. Well... actually you CAN buy Mec-Gar mags for it. They just say "Walther" on them and cost $50-ish a pop.

The good news is it looks like you can use S&W 99 mags. Good luck finding 10 rounders...

Best Glock clone yet. I shot the P99 years ago, and it was ok. I'm not a big fan of DA/SA triggers though, so it didn't make much of an impression. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing I really wanted. Then they came out with DAO and DAK equivalents later, but what's the point, really? The PPQ…

The magazines are Mec-Gars, with anti-friction coatings. Walther apparently doesn't allow Mec-Gar to sell them under their own name, so they're expensive, but the P99 has also been made under license as the S&W 99 and the Baby Desert Eagle, and those also source Mec-Gar magazines. So reasonably-priced magazines are not hard to find, and they're all top quality.

The only thing Promags are good for is as a donor magazine to make single shot sleds.

I'd sooner have Tapco mags for anything serious than Pro Mag mags. The only ones worth anything of a stone's throw are Pro Mag 10/20 AR mags with the carbon heat-treated steel.

I've tried my share of Pro Mags over the years and in all cases but one they have sucked at best and not functioned at all at worst. The ONLY exception has been the pathetically cheaply built but some how 100% reliable 9mm AR mags. I have no idea why these work when they are built out of the cheapest plastic(when empty, the follower pushes itself up past the soft plastic feed lips!) It's a scary thing when a Pro Mag works better than other options. After much reading and tinkering, I finally got some C Product mags to work well too, so I don't have to rely on the sure-to-fail-sooner-or-later Pro Mags.

Check your PM. I might have a link for factory 10 rounders.

Well, I thought about it, and I think I'm just going to return the Pro Mags, pick up a couple more factory mags and block them. I have several weapons, but have never run the Pro Mags, they look really cheap, and after all the feedback I think I'll pass. Thanks for all the feed back!

Avoid promag at all costs, unless you want to practice failure to feed, slide not locking open drills.

Do not use them for anything but the range. When you need them most they will fail.

I have a couple of P99 promag 10 rounders in .40 S&W. Having the occasional FTF with them until I filed back the top "lips" of mag... the Promag lips weren't angled far enough back compared to the factory mags so it didn't allow the round to tip up enough to get onto the feed ramp. Once I filed back the lips to the same length as factory, it worked fine.

There was a liquidation website called save some bucks that had 2 factory SW99 (mecgar) .40 mags for $20 each back in September, and I bought them all up!

Thanks weinerd! I may try that and use for the range as shipping back is almost what they cost........
Plus I swapped out the factroy "innerds" and they seemed to be ok. Oh well, lesson learned.

I had a Kahr and promags worked as well as the factory issue, except that they would not hold the slide open when empty.

Btw, no law says you have to buy a gun with magazines, of any capacity. You do have to do a safety demo which can be done with a similar gun.

Bought two 15rd ProMags for my CZ at a gun show the other weekend; one fits and feeds fine, but won't lock back after the last shot.. the other gets stuck in the magwell and won't release without using a tool to pry it out. I won't ever buy any again.

The gun comes with two 15 round mags that have been disassembled into "re-build kits". Also, a valid CCW negates any safety demo. I'm not willing to pay almost in shipping and handling as the original cost, so I'm going to tinker with them some and see what happens. Worst case...I'm out 40+/- bucks plus shipping and learned a valuable lesson. At this point what I REALLY want to do is get the weapon, and SHOOT it. I plan on picking it up Saturday, and I hope to have it broke in within a couple of days. ( 1000+ rounds)

BTW, CALGUNS rocks. Lots of good feedback! Thanks.....

When you have it, hold the promag magazine beside the factory magazine- you'll see what I mean about how the lips that retains the round at the top of the mag is longer on the promag than on the factory.

Yes, they're definitely not as nice as factory mags, but I've not had any problems since I did the fix.
