I think all the 226's are stainless.... most just have the black finish. Are you talking about the SS finished slide?

The slides are now stainless steel but blackened, unless it's two-tone. If it has a black frame, the frame is aluminum.

P226R TT = Stainless steel slide (grey), railed aluminum frame


P226ST = Stainless steel slide AND railed stainless steel frame (DISCONTINUED)

Lets be nice. They are on the list and new P226's can be found, but sig doesn't make them anymore. the ST models were replaced by the elites (which we sadly don't get here in Kali).

PS. My 700 P226 was the P226r with a stainless slide and aluminum ALLOY frame. 899 sounds right for an all stainless new P226. I was looking for an all stainless but couldn't justify another 200 for a ST frame. I also try to get NIB pistols. I buy from trusted online vendors who open and inspect the pistols to make sure the pistol meets their standards. I try not to get display models, but thats just me. I also try to get cars straight off the transport with the white protection stickers still on them.

Thanks for the info guys i wasnt aware that model had been discontinued. the guy accually started off at 999 so im glad i was able to talk him down a little, but im still a little disappointed the gun im getting is a floor model and not going to be in unopened original box. i mean when i go buy an ipod its wrapped up untouched in box why shouldnt a 900 dollar pistol be? and i recently found another gun shop in vacaville that has floor models and then real caches of guns in the back so i know the guy at canyon sports is wrong

Like I said in previous post, depends on which gun shop you go to. Some shops simply does not have the money to keep multiple inventory of the same gun, their display one may very well be their only stock. If you can find a shop that has multiple new-in-box guns so you can take advantage of that, more power to you.

The analogy of ipod does not really apply. Major electronic chain store actually have those ipods power-up for you to try; now try to ask a gun shop to see if they allow you to test fire before you buy I've being to places where they won't let you dry fire, use slide release or sling-shot slide on empty chamber, some even go a step further to cable-tie their gun up both for safety and to prevent tire-kicking. As long as there are no scratch, no rust from sweaty palms, and gun shops do their due dilligence to wipe them down before return to display case, they are new, get over it.

didnt get a deal but didnt get ripped i can live with that. i was talking to dude at the gunshop and he said no one sells guns in original unopened box which kind of bothered me i dont like the idea of getting the floor model that everyone and there mother has handled, is that a true statement or was dude selling wolf tickets

Yes, it's still on California list, but SIG is not making them any more, thus SIG will not renew the certification to keep it on the list. Once the ST model dropped they are dropped for good.

Sorry man, you are completely wrong. Sig renews all their guns, period. When was the last time you saw a Sig P226 Sport Stock or a P220 Sport being produced? Or a P225? Or a P228? Or a P245?
