Great thanks. -
excemption numbers for Military are as ff
X-21 Active Duty
X-22 Miltary Reserves
X-25 Military Honorably Retired
in all cases let the FFL decide if they wish to use either your I.D., DD-214 or Hon. Ret. paper work. If you are temporarily assigned here then the suggestion to bring a copy of your orders will also be helpful.Comment

Somebody's been watching too much MASH...What if you're medical or a chaplain? Wouldn't imagine you'd get handgun safety by default.Originally posted by AJAX22Being law abiding doesn't mean you have to get down on all fours and bleat like an ewe.Comment

Honorably Discharged is not the same as Honorably Retired. He'd need his DD214 to prove that he was Honorably Retired vs. Honorably Discharged.Comment
-
That is correct. Honorable Discharge is not exempt from HSC.

You now need to be a retired veteran in order to be exempt. This wasn't the case until the new HSC law went into effect January 1st 2003, in place of the older BFSC(basic firearms safety certificate). Both are a disingenuous crock given the nature of our gun loving legislature. All veterans were exempt until the gun grabbers saw fit to create more restriction, as usual.Comment

How did we let that one get by?You now need to be a retired veteran in order to be exempt.I have neither the inclination or the time to relieve people of the regional and ethnic handicaps that they inherited from their ancestors.

Good to go, since the personnel that cooks or the personnel that searches houses all have to qualified with some kind of firearms. Whether you retired or have an honorable discharge shouldnt make a difference on firearm proficiency. Short personal story in the military you get fire safety training, some like the Navy very elaborate, some its just the use of a fire extinguisher class. Its every year, If you cant get the operation of a fire extinguisher down pat in the first 3 years of training there is no hope, 20 years of a yearly class arent goint to make a difference. Same with firearms qualification. But my point is there any provisions for the vets of lets say WW2 the served but didnt retire.when you are retired military you generally get a retired military card. if you are a cook in the military it still exempts you. or even if all you did was empty latrinesLast edited by 4 Brigada; 11-08-2007, 9:16 PM.I have neither the inclination or the time to relieve people of the regional and ethnic handicaps that they inherited from their ancestors.
