From what I have seen I still wouldn't DROS at Target Masters.

Yes, but there is a big difference from saying you would not shop there like this post, and lying about instances and spreading rumors like sohijiro.

this post has roughly 7800 views. While many are repeat views, potentially that is a large number of lost customers....

That is true. But there is a lot of stuff in this thread even if you exclude sohijiro's original report (that now has been cast in serious doubt) and the discussion thereof. There are several discussions of "unpleasant" circumstances at TM (concerning rental guns, lighting, unsanitary customers, clueless and annoying staff), and other anecdotal reports of mishandlung of DROSed or PPTed guns. This is balanced by some (fewer) positive reports about TM, and about the way they are changing. I would hope that the readers here can form their own opinions, based on all the anecdotal evidence presented here. From that point of view, 7800 views are good, because 7800 people now have a better informed opinion of TM.

My personal summary (based nearly exclusively on my own observations, not much on what I read here): I'll go back to TM to shoot there, but it is not my favorite range. For buying guns and FFL services like PPT there are much much better places.

                TM report for 2/23

I was in there today for an hour of shooting.I took a newbie and introduced him to the world of 1911's. The short bay was clean and well ventilated. The floor was well swept, the brooms and trash was in good order and the target hangers were in good repair.

The staff, Mike? was courteous and professional. They are cleaning up the store in anticipation of new stock.

No negetives today...just a good time had by a pair of locals.

edit my original post to what? cuz you seem to be bent on proving nothing happened. so what should i write? "everything went smoothly" ? because it didnt,.
i originally posted the truth as far as i could have possibly known it at the time.

prove what, prove that your store lost photocopies of my id and thumbprint so the transferee couldnt pick up the gun? prove i didnt receive any paperwork, prove that all you guys had to do was call to get the lock undone and get additional information but instead waited till the end of the 10 days to surprise us, why do you even take our phone numbers down? prove that the gun clean gun i dropped off was picked up with a nice coat of carbon on it? i admitted that he lock issue was resolved, but you had to insist since that i was wrong about that part so i must have made the whole issue up. and call me a liar, fine. i wont deal with a store like that anymore.

plus, i know why you wont find the operator paperwork.

edit-, thanks for the PM, i see that now you are going to sue me. NICE, i hope you dont treat all your customers that way. and by the way. theres other people that dont like your store also, when are you gonna start your lawsuit against them ?

                    Dude....

Accusing them of losing paperwork is pretty hardcore. This is their business, and the details are in the paperwork. After all the other accusations w/o proof I think it's clear.

                    Friendly Advice:

                    Just let it go.

Let it go man, just let it go.

After 16 years of dealing with Target Masters, I admit they are not my favorite, but they are still in business, they would not be in business that long losing paperwork, shooting guns in DROS, etc. The DOJ is not completely stupid, and slander on the internet is not something that has gone w/o charges in the past, in fact, a court could warrant that the Calguns.net Admin release your IP, and your service provider release your name and other information for formal charges.

For future reference, you should take pictures of everything. Get one of those disposable cameras if need be.

Dear Management of Target Masters West:

Please don't forget that many other people, in this and in other threads, have posted some VERY VERY negative comments about Target Masters West. Not just about problems with DROS and PPT, but also about staff that doesn't have a clue, and rude staff, and arbitrary enforcement of rules, and your range being a magnet for gang members and gang imitators to perform their shooting practice and their initiation rites. And your recent posts in this thread don't exactly exude an aura of being adult and above a little criticism; instead you are lashing out like a small child. If you keep this style up, your posts will be the cause of damage your very own company; it seems that you don't need help from others in slandering, and can do this perfectly well yourself.

To make it very clear: I have recently been back at TM in Milpitas after a gap of a year or two, and have observed that some serious effort is being made to clean up the range, improve the equipment, and also improve the staff. I particularly applaud the fact that TM is so far the only range that actually knows and fully understands the rules for non-US-citizens using ranges and renting guns. That visit to TM was perfectly pleasant. Don't undo those efforts by acting like a donkey here.

To end this post on a humorous note, here is my personal story of clueless staff at TM: Several years ago, I took my "snake charmer" shotgun to TM, to shoot it on the range (the snake charmer is a perfectly legal shotgun, not a cut-off or NFA, but it is exactly the minimum size the law allows, and has a thumbhole stock, so it looks like a cross between a kids shotgun and a tactical weapon). I was a little worried about shooting it at a range, because this shotgun is so short that it can not be shouldered; instead I shoot it like a slightly oversize handgun. And many ranges have rules against pistol-grip shotguns, or firing shotguns from any position other than shouldered. Strangely, the moron at the front desk didn't bring up this problem I was expecting. Instead he claimed that I couldn't shoot it, because shotguns shoot steel shot, and the steel balls ricochet around the range (the part about ricochets with steel is indeed true, the rest is nonsense). And he simply wouldn't believe that nearly all shot is lead, in particular that Winchester AA trap #9 shells are lead, and that steel and bismuth shells are marked as such. No, he wouldn't let me shoot, unless the box of shells is marked as "lead shot". I pointed out to him that the shot that TM sells for use in the shotgun on the range is not marked as lead either, and he got mad at me. Probably because I had demonstrated to the other shooters waiting in line that he is indeed a moron. I decided that there is no point having an argument with a moron, in particular if the moron is armed and getting visible mad, and instead used another (more traditional) weapon on the range.
