even though I sold my 17, I'd go with Glock 20 or 29.

Uncommon but not unpossible. The odd 1006 & Delta Elite show up from time to time. Bring money! Saw a like new 1006 earlier this year @ $800.
Monkeys will fly out my rear orifice before I buy a 10 mm G****.

I think I would just buy a .40 and tell everyone it was a 10mm short...
I call it 10 mm Kurz.

Wonder if one could convert a Ruger 944 to 10 mm?

Yes, the EAA Witness are nice. Just don't get a standard model Witness though. Get an Elite series and you should be good (or better). The standard witness and compacts have jamming problems. There are fixes out there for it, but you will be better off with an Elite series.

Also, as far as the cracking slides, it's just the model with the Wonder finish. The other finishes are fine.

It would be a fine pistol for SSE in CA, but it seems they are quite popular in the rest of the country and are hard to find in stock.

Try a Glock 29 short frame (SF) model. It will fit your hand.

Or Get a G20SF. Seriously for the money and available options you Glock is the platform.

S&W 610. If you find a pre lock model for sale don't tell anyone because it will be gone when go there to buy it. Here is mine. It's been converted to 10 mm magnum.

Do you hate hate the looks of my G20LS?

I absolutely HATED the feel of Glocks until I shot a G20SF. Now all I own are Glocks.

I do like the Dan Wesson 10mm 1911's though...

                        My 10mm experience

I had the 10mm urge like the OP about 12 years ago, and looked for a 10mm Delta Gold Cup online at the auction sites. This was just before the CA gun list went into effect, and you could import handguns into the state through an FFL without worrying about a list of approved guns. At that time they were going for about $800 and you would see them pop up from time to time. Eventually I found one that was slightly used and won the auction.

I've been shooting the gun several times per year since then, and it has performed perfectly. I generally buy my ammo mail order from Georgia Arms.

If I were looking for a 10mm today I would probably go the Glock route, as I have a couple of Glocks in other calibers and don't have any bias against that brand.

I have a G20 and a Smith & Wesson 1006 you are welcome to try.

While different the Glock shoots better for me than the Smith.

Located in Concord. PM me if you want to meet up. Sammy

Glock has supported the 10mm. Let's all admit, if Glock wasn't still building 10mm Auto pistols, ammo would be as rare as 45-70 pistol loads. The bulk of 10mm ammo gets shot down a G20 or G29. 10mm would already be a reloading sidenote if Glock hadn't joined the game.
