No much in the way of safetys on the Glock. You pull the trigger it shoots. The Ruger has a manual safety that can be activated to keep the trigger from accidently being pulled when your jogging. You would have to holster the Glock, not the Ruger, it's much smaller and lighter.

You mentioned one of the primary purposes for the showdown is for running. I'd go with the weapon that is most comfortable. Both are reliable enough. Whichever you are most likely to carry will do you the most good.

SHOOT the LC9 before you buy it!

Not sure what you normally shoot as far as handguns go, but the LC9 trigger is "different".. for me at least.

I was pretty stoked about the LC9 due to size, conceal-ability, etc. It felt great in my hands in the gun shop. I was about to order one, but just happened to be at the range and they had one for rent. I rented it and put around 150 rounds through it. I HATE that trigger. I am very used to shooting my XD9 and I just could not get used to the trigger in that range session. Most handguns I have shot I can get somewhat used to by the end of a range session. Not this one.

I REALLY wanted to like this gun. Price, size, etc. were all right on target for my needs for a concealed carry gun. There is just no way I would trust my life to that gun. Could I get used to the trigger and feel comfortable with the gun? Absolutely! Do I want to? Not at all.

I doubt either one is going to be enjoyable to shoot, especially for a girl. Both are very snappy. The thinness of the LC9 makes it just so much easier to conceal though. The G26 is way thicker. I may have some side by side pictures, I'll go look. I could post some if you think it would help.

Unfortunately I haven't taken any pics of the G26 and LC9 side by side. Size really does matter. And thickness is more important than length. The LC9 is much more comfortable to conceal.

            Here is what I have:

Like I said, I can take more pics later today if you want anything specific.

+1 The LC9 trigger sucks big time. I sold it after 50 rounds through it. GLock 26 ftw. If you want something smaller, go with the LCP. The magazine disconnect safety and the manual safety is a deal breaker for me on a CCW handgun.

                Owned'em both.

I love the way my LC9 shoots.

The trigger is very "revolver-like" and gave me NO problems whatsoever.

It's become my deep conceal carry piece due to it's light weight, flat profile, and Crimson Trace laser grip.

Hope this helps and good luck!

The G26 is bulky for CCW, so I would go with the LC9.

                    Get them both!

But being a Glock fangal I say the G26 first.

Look at some of the reviews on both and see what people are saying. It seems that the Ruger has some issues and the Glock seems to rate more positively.

I have heard it said that people either love of hate a Glock, which I both love and hate them :-). Glocks don't fit my hand well (perhaps the Gen4 Glocks are better, but ...). Also, it is more of a tool than something that is nice to shoot in my opinion, but they are small and hold a lot of rounds.

I have my carry license and I own both. My advice is between the 2 get the LC9. The G26 is thick, the trigger on the LC9 is a looooooong pull. All the way back to the frame. The sights are pretty good. I don't like the manual safety or the magazine disconnect, but that's a trade off. If I had had the money at the time I probably would have gone with the Kahr PM9.

Uhmm where is the data to show that gen 3 Glock 26 has a duel spring? On the Glock website it clearly lists the Gen 4 as "Internally, the original recoil spring has been replaced with a dual recoil spring assembly. The dual recoil spring assembly noticeably reduces the recoil while simultaneously increasing the life cycle of the assembly."

While the data for the Gen 3 does not list a new dual spring design.

Really if that is the case Great! But I've seen nothing to show that to be the case, and I didn't bother tearing one down when I was looking at the Gen 3's in the gun stores. So any tech data you could provide would be great!

I think a carry gun is a lot like ski boots, walking around the store isn't going to tell you the whole story. Unless you are a really big person, smaller and lighter is probably going to be better. On the capacity thing, remember cartridges weigh a lot also.

To settle the G26 recoil spring debate, below is a picture of my G26 Gen 3 slide and recoil spring.

some guns feel great in the hand and are wonderful... until you shoot them. OP needs to shoot the contenders for ownership, and then decide.

for me... the G26 is the subcompact of choice.

I think the G26 is going to be a bit large for active carry, but I think it is a better gun (just really chunky). The Ruger LC9 would be easier to carry, but I would compare it against the Kahr series of guns before taking the plunge. I haven't shot the Ruger yet, but I found the Kahr very easy to shoot, and they should have similar trigger designs.
