Hello. I have a stainless python, dated approx 1982. It was bought on consignment, and the original box/case was not provided. I would like to obtain an original box or case, but am uncertain on what would be correct. Should this have a styrofoam and "woodgrained" cardboard box, or would the blue plastic case be correct (like my anaconda)?? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

I made a box for my python. First step, cut a hole in the box...

I know, I know
... I couldn't help it. Unfortunately, I'm of no use in actually helping out here. Good luck though. Love both of those guns!!!

My guess and its only a guess, is a woodgrain box with sytrofoam insert based upon some of my Colt 1911's of the same vintage. My only Python which has a box is an earlier blued 4" and it's woodgrain cardboard with cardboard insert.
You may need to head over to a Colt forum for a definitive answer but maybe a member here will have a similar one with an original box and can answer your question."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"
"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"Comment

There is a dealer on GunsAmerica that sells Colt boxes. I bought one a while back (sent him a check & received the box a week later). I just checked his link and the prices are going up as fast as the prices for Pythons & Diamondbacks. The box I got looks brand new (never had a gun in it) and includes the paperwork. The end tab labels he sells separately (I didn't buy one).
