Just bought a LB Thunder Ranch Special w/200 rnds thru pipe and some mags and accessories. It'll get out of jail 11/19 (arrives 11/9):



Wonder what your guys' experience has been with LB 1911s. Heard they run tight and take some time to break in, but are some of the most accurate 1911s you'll find. Was there any issues during break-in or after?

Zero issues and the most accurate 1911 you will ever fire! I have a custom carry. Runs flawless, about 1,200 rounds thru.

I recently purchased a NIB LB Custom Carry and have put 600 rds thru it including various factory 230Gr ball and Ranger T +P 230GR JHP ammo with no FTF/FTE's to date. The gun's accuracy far exceeds my abilities. IMO the slide is tight but not overly so. I had no problems with disassembly/reassembly, although I do take extra care in installing the slide stop as to not put an idiot scratch on the frame/slide.

The only issue I encountered is that during the first 300 rds I noticed minor brass marks just behind the ejection port after shooting. These could be removed by applying some Hoppes #9, letting the gun sit for awhile and then wiping down the affected area. After the first 300 rds this issue went away.

Mine have run great. Slide to frame is tight but no issues.

I have a Custom Carry that I put ~450 rounds through. Not one issue, fired everything, including Wolf 230 gr and reloads with 185 grain XTP hollow point. It was very tight before I shot it, was difficult to pull the slide back. I expected to have all sorts of issues, but had none. Now, it is much easier to pull the slide back. The gun feels very solid and is extremely accurate. Mine also put some minor brass marks behind the ejection port. Congratulation on the great purchase.

A Les Baer TR is on my bucket list. I've been trying to ignore the 1911 temptation but the call is too strong. I'm just waiting for my Lotto numbers to come up, or I'll sell off 5 Glocks to fund it. Edited to add that if the Lotto thing comes up, I'll be gettin' a Springer Professional.

Great 1911's. Les knows how to build them with his "hard fit" so they remain accurate and field reliable.

The bushing rotates (for removal) much easier if you pull the slide back almost 1/4" first. I don't know why, but it works.

I hope to purchase a Les Baer 1911 in the near future, but I have to save my pennies first. I'm looking at buying either a TRS, UTC, or a Ultimate Recon. I have a NHC GRP non rail so, I'm leaning more towards a LB with rail.

the average time for my les baer(s) to slightly loosen up was around 500 rounds. all three (monolith tactical Commanche, ultimate recon and ultimate master) had various failures before that.
the les baer premier II which i used to have only became reliable after approx. 1K rounds.

I have same gun, had a couple FTF's using the mags that came with it early on.

Switched 'em with McCormick PowerMag +, and have not had one single problem since.

Very accurate and quality feeling pistol, good choice!

My DROS starts in Mid December for a LB Custom Carry. In the meantime, I get to play with my SA TRP full rail. I can wait..........But it does suck.

The Rancho Cuco Turners had a used LB Custom Carry. I actually looked at it but the previous owner left a really nice idiot mark on the frame.

The most accurate 1911 pistol I have shot out of the box makes you shoot like a professional, I have one TRS purchase it two years ago from Camden Sports shop in Campbell , California looking to get another one this time it will be the 2.5" guarantee at 50 yards. Then sell my first one :-)

ah, you mean the 1.5" guarantee? How'd the TRS shoot for you? ANy hiccups during the "breakin" period?

THe LB TRS I'm getting has an idiot mark too from the 1st owner, but it's not TOO noticeable.
