    Can anyone recommend a training....

facility in So Cal? In particular something geared towards new shooters and/or females with an emphasis or additional training on defensive shooting?

    Thanks!

I'd suggest Firearms Training Associates. They have their own range and classroom at Rauhauge's in Norco. The owners are Bill and Cheryl Murphy and they are both LEO and excellent instructors.

Concealed, ccw, concealed carry, firearms, pistol, shotgun, carbine, rifle, training, shooting, guns, handgun, gun, gun training, firearms training, pistol training,

My wife had a very good time with Mike at OC Indoor range in Brea. It's not a defensive/tactical pistol class at all, but covers basic range-oriented shooting/safety/handling instruction.

However, taking care of this stuff first will help make the tactical class that much more pleasant for the new shooter, and Mike is a very charming guy.

$99 each for private lessons that last on the order of 3-4 hours with ammo and pistols included

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

For a some one in need of the basics, start with an NRA Basic Pistol class. TJ Johnson at All Safe Defense in Orange provides excellent instruction. He is an NRA train-the-trainer guy.

For more defensive pistol work ITTS (Angeles SHooting Range) has an All Womens' Defensive Handgun class. ITTS is one of the most respected training groups in the area. This class is a very good learning environment without the testosterone and war stories.

Cheryl and Bill at Firearms Training Associates (Raahague's) offer a all women's basic recreational handgun class. Very low key and relaxed atmosphere for the class.

Second ITTS, their Handgun I is designed to take people that have never shot a handgun to becoming fairly proficient with it. They are located in the LA area.

X2 on Firearms Training Associates. Best thing about FTA is once you've taken their General Handgun class you can attend the End of the Month Club on the last Saturday of every month. For $25 you get about a 1/2 day of instructor lead drills along with some occasional fun competitions. It's a great way to keep your skills polished.

ITTS is great, however the All Gals class seems to happen only once a year. However their normal Handgun 1 class is mainly taught by Uncle Scottie's wife Brett, who jokes that she definitely knows what it feels like to be the only gal in a firearm class.
