Actually the old carbon slides are called stamped or folded and are made up of 4 major pieces (body, front cap, rear cap and breach block)...the front and rear caps are welding on after the body is formed; the breach block is pinned in.
I also prefer the folded carbon slides. They are light and have a different balance. They also have a flat on the top of the slide in front of the ejection port that directs the eye toward the front sight.
On the 226, the internal extractors are only on the folded slides and the external one on the stainless machined slides...they didn't have the problems that Kimber had with their external extractors

I can live with the creep and spend the money on powder and primers.
