    Two Toned My M&P

I just recently picked up a used M&P45 after selling my 40. The gun came with some kind of ceramic coating on the slide and it was causing it to not lock up positively. It was pretty thick.

So after making sure the gun actually worked, I stripped the slide using some really fine glass media. That fixed the lock up issues and this is the result.

I've never been a fan of two tone guns but this is growing on me.

Thanks for the feed back guys! I may just leave it like this. It's really growing on me and I have a compact slide on order.

It's really simple. Look on Youtube how to detail strip an M&P. Once you have the slide completely disassembled you media blast it.

I took it to my local machine shop and the owner was so busy he just let me do it. Just make sure you use a really fine media so that you don't remove metal and blow all sand/media out of the all the small cracks before you put it all back together.

or even easier, PM me if you want to trade slides!

Looks sharp! I'm assuming the Melonite finish is still there, right? Kinda like how Tenifer is impregnated into the metal itself. Otherwise a clear coat of some sort for rust prevention might be a good idea.

There is a tiny bit of the original coating on there, but the slide is stainless, or at least it says on the side of it (see pic). So I don't think rust will be a big issue.
