Well a stock glock and a stock civic DX works, but you wont have any fun while using them. Glocks are far from perfection. Here are just a few mods just to make it useable:

    Ghost Rocket 3.5 Connector
    Wolff Competition Spring Set
    Vickers Extended Mag Release
    Glock Extended Slide Stop
    Grip Force Beavertail Adapter
    Buffer Technologies Buffer
Dawson Precision Charger Fiber Optic Front and Black Rear Sights
    Falcon grip tape

If you want to shoot lead through it, I suggest getting a KKM Drop in barrel. It is accurate, works perfectly, and it won't bulge your brass.

3.5 lb connector, factory extended mag release (G21 $3 OEM part), good sights, Trijicon for carry, Dawson Precision Fiber Optic for competition, do not recommend extended slide stop, whole bunch more mags, good belt (Wilderness Tactical) and holster (BladeTech). I use stock recoil spring assemlblies, but only have about 90,000 rounds thru my oldest G17, so maybe when it gets to 100,000 I will change something else.......

This is the first batch of mods at least that is what is planned
What are you going to be using the gun for? The mods for competition will likely be different than those for defense. And if it's for both, the answer will be different also.

Forget about the metal guide rod and grip plug. Fixes for problems that don't need fixing. And the hole in the heel of the grip is to ease removal of the magazine in case of a double feed. You can stick your thumb in there to get a better grip on the magazine.

          Defense:
Steel night sights. I like Warren Tactical 2-Dot.
Maybe grip tape. I don't like this on a gun I am actually carrying (clothing hangs up on it). OK for a HD gun, though.
Maybe extended slide release, although you will probably just manipulate the slide in a defensive situation. Think gross motor skills.

          Competition:
FO front sight w/ plain rear. Fast sight acquisition. Again, I prefer Warren Tactical.
          Grip tape. I run TruGrip.
          Extended slide release.
          Extended magazine release.
          3.5lb connector.

Changing sights is always #1 priority for me on a Glock. The stock sights are plastic crap that are easily knocked off the gun.

What do you plan on using this G23 for? Range toy? Self Defense?

Extended slide release isn't a bad mod, however, if you do install it watch your grip. Some people's fingers move up the receiver and can push it up and catch the slide at a time when you may not want it to lock back.

Metal guide rod: Are you having trouble with muzzle flip? The metal guide rod does provide some forward weight, but remember to make sure it's properly lubed with the metal to metal contact of the rod and spring. I had a metal guide rod on my G19 and didn't keep it properly lubed and it prevented it from going into full battery.

Grip filler/plug: I'm assuming here that you are talking about the back channel drain hole in the rear of the grip. If you plan to take it to the outdoors and get it dirty, wet, etc. i would leave the grip plug out. That back channel is meant for water, debris, to drain out of the rear of the receiver. If it's going to be a range toy and self defense then there is no problem with plugging the hole.

Only get the mag release and slide stop if your hand/finger size needs it. Not everyone is built the same.

Sights are a preference, however the stock plastic ones are just that - plastic.

I would honestly say get many more mags and ammo to practice with. One youget used to the pistol, you will better dictate what you actually "need".

                    Hope this helps.

I just bought some new trigger components, a steel guide rod and night sights.

I like the plastic gun, but think the guide rod and sights should be metal.

I hope the trigger works out well. Seems most people liek the feel when it is done.

Doesn't really need anything. Night sights, extrended mag release and slide stop, and grip tape all come in handy. If you ever get slide bite look into the Grip Force Adapter. Kinda goofy looking but works great.

One thing for sure, you don't need a metal guide rod. The stock rod is perfect.

A new connector (4.5 now, used to be called the 3.5. A Glock 34 part) helps the trigger.

Keep the weapon as close to stock as possible. It will run 100% out of the box.

                                This.

Like I reccomended in the other thread from personal preference and experience.

                                Night sights

3.5 connector or trigger job I prefer both

                                Then mags.

Extended mag release and slide release is just a look cool over okill upgrade for me.

And idk why people say ammo... Ammo is not an add on to a gun. It's a requirement unless you like saying bang or pow at the range.
