    Rethinking

Ok, So I was thinking [first mistake],

I like plastic guns but "Real Steel" has an appeal I can not deny.

Was looking at a Glock 21 thinking [Second Mistake], I could always use another gun like my HK USP 45.

But the Kimber 1911's sure do look pretty [Third Mistake]. I love my Kimber 84 .308. And I could always get a .22 cal kit for it, right.

Really, any thoughts on a nice mid grade ($1200 Maxish) plus the .22 conversion kit.

Any input advice preferences thoughts would be appreciated. Mainly shooting range stuff. Would love to shoot some bowling pin tourneys.

Well I love my Kimber, love my Glocks, my USP was nice but not all that so I sold it to fund a Glock and never regretted it. My kimber is nothing fancy. Just a basic Custom II. If you plan to carry I recommend an aluminum frame rather than steel. if it is a range plinker then I recommend the opposite. The added weight of a steel frame helps with the recoil but is definately noticable during carry.

Forget plastic. Get the Kimber. You can always get a glock...In buying always think about this.

          - How easy is it to make this $750 purchase now rather than later?
          - How easy is it to make a $500 purchase now rather than later?
          - Spending more is hard to do later.

Just buy one of everything, then sell the ones you don't like for a reasonable price here in the classified section.

You could go for both in one gun...

Even with a trigger job and aftermarket sights, this will still come in at under your $1200 budget, and you'd get a helluva centerfire/rimfire combo.

I like the looks of the new Springfield Range Officer, but I'd pass on a .22 conversion kit. You could probably get a Springfield RO & a Browning Buckmark for around $1200, and I'd rather have a dedicated .22 pistol. The conversion kits don't seem anywhere near as accurate or reliable.

Being a Glock guy, I have to say that IMO it doesn't get any better than a GEN 4 G21. I've had one since May, and it's the best .45 I've ever owned or shot.

I think I made my decision. Need to hold two 1911's to be sure.
