    1911 models

There are many different kinds of 1911s, who makes ones that are fairly inexpensive? or are they all over 900 new?

    Armscor/Rock Island Armory - Tactical

MSRP ~$600...market price should be lower.

Also check out Springfield's - Loaded models.

RIA makes great guns and I would look at Springfield as well. The mil-spec is good and the loaded too (although the loaded gets up towards 900)

S&W are a pretty good choice. Ah don't forget the Kimber custom II a lot of bang for your buck! 

There would probably be even more choices of low cost 1911s if we didn't have the stupid ca doj roster...

Just in case a sarcasm meter is broken somewhere, my 1911 is made in the philippines, and it's a great gun!

Remington R1 is $650 over at Ventura gun shop...SSE price I assume.

You can always buy used. It if is your first 1911 then it is kinda dumb to buy brand new. 99% of new owners are going to put an idiot mark on their gun and screw it up royally by trying to add aftermarket parts on their own despite being warned not to do so. If you do that to a brand new gun you'll be kicking yourself. But if you do it to a used gun that already has some wear and tear on it anyway...then no harm no foul. Get a used 1911, make all your NOOB mistakes on it, then once you're a 1911 expert buy a brand new 1911 and keep it in the condition the dollar amount you paid for it demands.

I paid $625 for a gently used Kimber Custom II and it runs wonderfully. The only thing it needed me to do to it was adjust the extractor tension. Something every 1911 owner needs to know how to do. Took 5 seconds if that, and no tools. Watched a YouTube video on how to do it.

RIA's are a good budget choice.

But be aware that most entry level 1911's have "Mil-Spec" type sights, meaning it's just a black or parkerized notch and a blade.

That system has worked ok for decades, but many shooters need upgraded sights.

Upgraded sights cost money, so factor that into your budget and buying decision.

Also note RIA dovetails are not industry standard size and aftermarket sights need custom fitting.

                          Ruger SR-1911

You have to go the SSE route.

OH, and did I mention that it is 100% made in the USA.

                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

The RIA Tactical rear sight is not a blade - it has a Novak-style rear sight.
