Dont know if that means anything but i havent had a problem with the federals in either 50 or 100 pack.

Yep. All great choices. I personally like the ergos of the M&P. Have a M&P .45 full size with Apex Tactical FSS and trigger kit. Shoots like a dream. Have a M&P 9 on 2/10 days wait that has the same Apex candy waiting for it when I pick it up.

Used to be a Glock guy but the M&P won me over. I'm not too crazy about the XD grip for my hands but know a lot of guys that love it. Don't really have trigger time on the Ruger. But yeah, like others have said...go rent em all, put some rounds down range and pick the one that you like shooting the most. Some extra up front cost but at least you won't play the shoulda woulda coulda game later.

Sub compacts aren't going to be very fun to shoot on a regular basis. At least not for me. Unless your a very small person or a female.

I don't think I've shot my sub compact xd9 in like 2 years. Great gun, just too small and sorta pointless for target shooting. I love my glock 17. I'm nowhere close to a fanboi, never open glock threads, or post in them. But I think I made a bad decision with the RTF2 grip version, so damn rough on the hands.

I agree with others. Narrow down the size a little more first. If this is the first (of many) or even a one and only gun purchase, I would suggest a full size/length alloy (or steel) gun in 9mm with not too many bells and whistles. You don't want to be distracted by that ability to add/change too much. Just putting hundreds/thousands of rounds down range and having fun with it. So to increase the ability to enjoy the pistol, I suggest metal for reduced "felt" recoil (if you aren't carrying it, it doesn't need to be light) and the feel of sturdiness. You would also want to consider the trigger operation. For the simplest of trigger operation (striker fired IMO), you might struggle to find a non-polymer option. I liked starting with a DA/SA trigger because I was more comfortable knowing the first pull would take "intention". OF course this opens up a whole can of worms that we don't want to get into here.

OF the options you listed, I would suggest a Glock17 or 19 or the M&P9. I would actually suggest a p226 or 229 or CZ75 (quite a few variants) as they have the heft that I think people should start out with. Once you decide you want to carry it, or once you have learned the importance of trigger finger control and are confident in your ability to handle a loaded gun, then move on to the many other options that are out there.

To make an informed recommendation it would be best to nail down the size you want and the intended purpose of the new pistol. Going on the available information my recommendation would be for a M&P (9 or 9c) or Glock (17 or 19). Of course I love the G26 if you are serious about a sub compact.

What feels good in your hands? Personally, polymer guns don't feel good to me. They feel poorly balanced. That's right - don't like Glocks. Try getting those polys back on target with that kind of balance.

Browning High Power or Beretta 92FS(M9). Maybe a CZ.

I have a glock 27 and the xd sc40....honestly get them both (of course a minimum of 30 days apart). I can never decide which I like more. It's like having two kids, you can't pick favorite.
